Takes Wind Out of Asheville
Forest City Hi defeated Asheville
Hi here Saturday in a seven inning
game, 17 to 2.
T. Blanton's delivering was puz
zling to the visitors as they could
only get three hits off him, while the
locals were pounding Black for nine
teen hits.
Forest City scored twice in the
first inning on a double, r. single and
a sacrifice fly. In the second the
locals pushed three more runs across
on the error, a single and a double.
During the third inning Forest City
scored a trio of runs on three
singles, a double and an error.
Asheville scored their two runs in
the fourth on a walk, an error and
two singles while Forest City was
held scoreless.
In the fifth inning Forest City ran
wild and scored nine runs on eight

To Play Candler
"Pete" Moss and his hard-hitting
Candler team will play the local
high here Friday afternoon at 3:30
p. m.
Forest City defeated Candler 10 to
8, earlier in the season at Candler.
Forest City defeated Candler last
fall in football by the score of 20 to
13 and Candler handed the locals
two basket ball defeats by the scores
of 39 to 32 and 32 to 30. This
game will tell the tale as both teams
have two victories each.
Robertson said to be one of the
best Southpaw school pitchers in
Western North Carolina, will hurl
for the visitors.

operetta given at Oakland last
Thursday night was good and was
enjoyed by a large crowd.
School closes this week at Oakland.

Mrs. A. C. Moore and son, B. G.
Moore went to Charlotte one day
last week where Mrs. Moore under
went an operation on her eye. She
is doing nicely at latest repoi'ts.
Mrs. J. C. Hudson left last week

father, who is very sick.

them again soon.

Mexican bandits killed nearly half
a hndred offenseless passengers on a
train a few days ago. Then posses
of police and citizens rounded up
the criminals and shot them, without
even giving them a chance to go
crazy or enjoy the ministrations of
the sob squad. But then Mexico is
not up on the new criminology.
