BAPTIST CHURCH NOTES
The series of revival meetings that
ia ve been in progress at the Baptist
Church came to a close last Friday
night and Dr. Mahan lett for his
home at Etawah, Tenn., Saturday
morning. Dr. Mahan did some of the
best preaching the writer ever' heard
and it is hoped that his messages"
ma y continue to bear fruit in the fu
ture.
We were glad to have a number of
visitors at church last Sunday.
Among them were Mr. and Mrs. T Jin
Elmore of Gaffney, S. C., Miss Ora
Hull and three of the boys from
South Mountain School. Misr> Hull
and the boys were guests in the
home of Rev. and Mrs. R. C. Smith.
A few of our people attended the
Sunday School meeting at Ellenbo
ro Sunday afternoon.
The pastor talked to the con
verts Sunday night and baptized five
or six.
The Friday night Bible Study class
will resume their studies on next Fri
day night.
The W. M. U. will hold a banquet
at the Memorial Building on Thurs
day night of this week for all the
Baptist women in the town. A large
attendance is expected and an at
tractive program is being arranged
for the occasion. Mi's. T. C. Lovelace
of Henrietta and Mrs. Howard Cam
nitz of Chimney Rock will be the
principal speakers.
One of the members of the Friday
Night Bible School has sent in the
following. Our Bible School. "Study
to show thyself approved unto God,
a workman that needeth not to be
ashamed, rightly dividing the Word
of Truth."'
The purpose of our School is to
come together to study God's Word
and to try to "become acquainted
with God." We are studying for
service and we are learning to know
God's Word and His will for us.
Our beloved pastor is freely giv
ing his time to study and preparation
in order that we may know and un
derstand God's Word better. We are
aratoful that he is both willing and
always ready for service. Only those
who attend can know the results of
faith a school of "training. Our teach
er seems to know just the message
to bring to us. It is through his teach
ing and his opening of God's Word
to us that we are drawn closer to
God and learn to love Him more and
serve Him better.
The members of this School join
in asking that all of our people will
attend' our Bible Study Class. If you
are a child of God and have a desire
to become better acquainted with
God and to know Him better, —come
and study.
Everybody come to the Bible School,
And let's follow the Golden Rule.
God has done for us what He could
And we could serve Him if we would.
Come!
