BAPTIST CHURCH NOTES
There were 365 in Sunday School
last Sunday. That was four more
than the previous Sunday.
The pastor read Ist Cor. 3: 7-16
and the subject was "Your's and
Christ's".
There was a meeting of the Sun
day School officers at the Church
at seven o'clock Sunday evening.
Rev. R. C. Smith read John 1: 1-18
for the scripture lesson at the eve
ning hour and his text was the 14th
verse of this passage,'"The Word be
came flesh, etc." The subject was
"Incarnation."
We were glad to have several vis
itors with us last Sunday. Among
those present Sunday evening were
Mr. and Mrs. A. M. McKinney and
daughter and Mr. and Mrs. Stockton
of Ellenboro.
On next Sunday morning at eleven
o'clock there is to be an ordination
service when the new deacons will
be ordained. The church has fifteen
Deacons elected to serve for three
years. Each year the term of five
of them expires and five others are
elected by the church to take their
places and serve for three years. Af
ter a deacon has been out of the of
fice of Deacon for one year he may
be elected again.
BOY SCOUTS
All members of the local troop of
Scouts were present Monday night j
at their regular meeting except two
who for some reason were absent.
They planned at this meeting for
their Fish Stew Supper they are to
give at the banquet hall of the Mem
orial building on next Friday night.
Mr. D. C. Splawn has been secured
to arrange for the fish stew and they
expect to be ready to begin serving
about six o'clock Friday evening of
this week. Some of the boys' mothers
are expected to be there to superin
tend. In addition to this the boys
have quite a number 'of useful and
ornamental articles for sale. There
are hand painted vases, flower bas
kets woven with reed and raffia, and
several buffet sets and dinner sets
with attractive hand painted designs
and many other articles which will be
offered for sale at very reasonable
prices. The boys have not made all
the things that are for sale, but they
have made several things including
rustic flower baskets and stands and
are busy this week when time can be
had for making more. There will be
a collection of odd flower vases, etc.,
