He enlisted in Company D, m 116 th Regiment, which was formed in IJ Burnt Chimney (Forest City) and ■! immediate vicinity, and was the first ■ company to leave the county. Later ■ he assisted in recruiting Company I, J which was composed largely of For ■ est City men, and was commander ■ of that company until his capture ■ near the close of the war. WALTER MOORE DEAD Born, to Mr. and Mrs. Walter Moore, at the Rutherford Hospital Sunday, a daughter. The child was born dead. Interment was in Cool Springs cemetery Monday morning. Burial arrangements were in charge of Padgett and King, undertakers. Funeral services were held at the local Methodist church, and were in charge of Rev. M. F. Moores. BOYD On Monday evening a picnic was given in honor of Mrs. Joseph M. Boyd, who prior to her recent mar riage was Miss Marie Reid, and Miss Dixie Reid who will sail June 28th for Porto Rico where she has accept ed on enviable position in the Poly technic Institute. Those enjoying the occasion were: Mrs. Joseph M. Boyd, Misses Dixie and Anne Reid, Mr. and Mrs. Charles C. Reid, and Mr. Volney Reid, of Rutherfordton, Dr. and Mrs. George P. A total of eight candidates will be vot i ed on in this primary. Each of these candidates failed to receive a suffici ! ent number of votes to nominate. No candidate for sheriff or record er secured a majority vote, while on ly one man in the county commis sioner's race received sufficient votes to nominate.
