At the present time the latest fad is that of sheared heads and is gain ing wide popularity with the young men of Forest City, as many of them are minus their sleek hair. To Paul Harrill, young business man and prominent in Forest City's social life, goes the honor of starting the fad by being the first to have his hair clipped off. Are they sick of it? Well, yes, one or two have said that they would give twenty-five dollars if they had their hair back, but the others seem to enjoy their shining domes! One of their man objections of having a sheared head, according to one young man, is that he can't get a date! Those who have had their heads sheared to date are: Paul Harrill, South Broadway; Charles Huntley, East Main, Charles Hemphill, West Main; James Harrill, South Broad way; Zea Butler, South Broadway; and Ray Adams, East Main. FOREST CITY BOY WINS STATE HONORS Norman Morgan, of Cool Springs High, Named one j of State's Seven 'Car olina Farmers.' Norman Morgan, a junior at Cool Springs High School, won the high est honor that a vocational agricul ture student can win when he was made Carolina Farmer at the Young Tar Heel Farmers meeting in Ra leigh, June 23. There were seven of the three thousand agriculture stu dents in the state upon whom this degree was conferred. Superinten | dent A. T. Allen presented the de j gree and Governor Angus W. Mc -1 Lean sent his message to the boys. I The degree "Carolina Farmer" is i awarded to students elected by the executive committee of the Young Tar Heel Farmers organization, and by the delegates to the annual con vention. There are nine qualifications for the honor, and the relatively small number of students who qual ified show how outstanding the rec ord of a Carolina Farmer must be. Norman is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Morgan of the Mt. Pleasant community. He has been an outstand ing student of agriculture for three years. His flock of white leghorn chickens is one of the best in the county and his other projects are al so excellent. The other boys who won the de gree are Sam Rich, Davie County; Lacy Weeks, Sampson County; John Brown, Beaufort Couhty; James Williams, Richmond County; Gilbert Koontz, Davidson County; and El more Alberta, Surry County. TELEPHONE CONTROLS ALL TRAIN MOVEMENTS Train dispatching on the New York, New Haven & Hartford Rail road is now done entirely by tele phone. The New Haven was one of the first railroads in the United States to make exclusive use of the telephone for this purpose and to! eliminate the telegraph and other.' forms of communication having to do with the direction and routing of trains. By the end of 1929, the New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad plans to use no other form of wire communication than the telephone for any purpose, with the single exception of the telegraph printer which is used for general message service between divisional points.
