FOREST CITY I _ [IAh, dear Forest City! bright queen of the hills, !In heart I salute thee; the present j ' { and past. j I The charm of thy people, thy raoun- ■ tains and rills, j Can ne'er be forgotten while mem- j ories last, ; O'er miles in the south, your fair ! woodlands, your streams, From my alma mater I saw in my j dreams. ! I j I've wandered afar in the dangers of j life, And oft heard the sound of eterni | ty's call; Yet in the grim contest; its death noise and strife, I still dreamed of Piedmont, regard less of all. But, after these long years, my dreams, they came true, In sure gravitation I came back to you. Six years I was with you, in love, joy and tears, Your fathers and mothers were one with my own. The picture has vanished; they passed with the years, And only a few now remain that I've known. But you—sons and daughters—dear hearts, every one, Remind me today of your dear pa rents gone. * * * !
