High School Friday i . Evening. ! Last Friday evening a large and . an appreciative audience enjoyed the j biggest and best program ever given | by the public school music depart- i ' ment of Cool Springs Township I schools. Under the inspiring leadership of Mrs. A. M. Glickman, our public sdhool music supervisor, 335 boys ' and girls demonstrated in a beauti -1 ful way, some of their many ac complishments in music, j As the curtains were drawn for the first part of the program, 200 children, chosen from the Grammar, schools in the township, were bank , ed on the stage from the footlights to the ceiling, revealing a lovely pic- I ture of human flowers. ' The opening number, "Thanksgiv i ing Song", Gaynor, was sung in uni ! son by the entire group; then each grade beginning with the first grade ♦ through £he seventh grade, sang a special number. These youthful voices showed fine training by producing good \ tone quality and diction. jThe most uni •' que number in part I was the "Christ mas Song", sung by the primary j grades of Alexander schools. The entire group lead the audience in singing "America, The Beautiful" I in a very spirited manner. 1 Part 11, was devoted to Cool Springs Township high school. The j more mature voices of 135 talented i boys and girls opened their part of the program with a big joyous | chorus "Hail, Bright Abode", by i Richard Wagner. > ! Outstanding solos on the program ; were given by Misses Hazel Price, I Madge Moore and Anjie Mae New i ton. ; i Paul Hamrick, the "whispering tenor", was at his best in "The Land i of the Sky Blue Water" by Cadman. j Phillip Chambers MUU Dan Pool made their debut in a duet, "Pale Moon" by Lagon. i The Boys Glee Club made a big 1 hit in their special number, "A Little 1 Close Harmony" by O'Hara. Last but not least were the ac companists who assisted Mrs. Glick-1 man.
