Death Claims Mr.
Will Wright;
Uree, R-l, Apr. 14.—The entire
community was grieved to hear of
the death of Mr. Will Wright, which
occurred at his home on Uree R-l,
on Wednesday night. Mr. Wright had
been in bad health for several years
and very ill and confined to his bed
for several months. The end was not
unexpected.
The funeral services were held at
the Antioch M. E. church, Friday
at 12 o'clock, for Mr. Wright, with
the Rev. L. N. Epley officiating and
Ihe was assisted by the Rev. E. P.
j White. The church was over filled
! with sorrowing friends and relatives
and loved ones, and theie was manj.
beautiful flowers. Mr. Wright was
sixty years old. He leaves his wife,
who before her marriage was Miss
Roada Koon, and seven children
also survive as follows: Mr. Ralph
Wright, of Ruth; Mr. Manley Wright
lof Rock Hill, S. C.; Messrs Addie
Wright, Dewey Wright and Theodore
Wright all at home. Mrs. Myrtle
White, of Rrttherfordton R-3, and
Mrs. Elsie Searcy, of Uree. Also a
number of grand children.
He had one child that preceded
him to the grave many years ago. Mr.
Wright joined the Antioch M. E.
chulrch in early boyhood. He was a
member there until several years ago.
Mr. Wright joined the Montford Cove
Baptist church and has been a de
voted member until his death.
Mr. Will Wright was liked and
admired by all in this community
and he lived an useful and good life.
His passing has grieved a large host
of friends. He will be greatly missed
in his home, church and community.
Our heart felt sympathy goes out
to the bereaved ones.
SENIOR CLASS OF HOLLIS
BANQUETS AT SHELBY
Hollis, Apr. 12.—The senior class
class of Hollis high school held their
annual banquet at the Hotel Charles
Shelby, Wednesday night. The din
ing room was appropriately decorat
ed in class colors and a sumptuous
dinner was served by the manage
ment.
Mr. Grady Withrow acted the
part of toastmaster to perfection.
His ready wit and inexhaustible
supply of good humor prevented a
moment's dullness during the even
ing. A number of guests made brief
and appropriate talks in response
to toasts by the seniors. Prof. Clyde
A. Erwin was guest of honor and
delivered a most fitting address. His
topic was "Preparation for Life."
During the banquet Mr. Webb
called the toasmaster over the
phone and extended and invitation
to the entire party to attend the
Webb theatre as his guests. The
offer was heartily accepted and the
remainder of the evening spent at
the theatre.
The following attended: Seniors-
Misses Mattie Lee Campbell, Effie
Daves, Viola Gamble, Matt and Ola
Gettys, Clara Mae Gordon and
Laura Mae Irvin; Messrs. C. C.
Crow, Blaine Jones, Buford McCar
son ,and Kenyon Withrow. Little
Miss Oreeta Daves, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Fred Daves was mascot.
In addition to these were Mr. and
Mrs. Grady Withrow. Mr. E. M.
Jones, Prof. Clyde A. Erwin, and
the Hollis high school teachers, Miss
Edith Mcßee, Mr. J. L. Rhyne and
Mr. J. J. Tarlton.
