OAK GROVE NEWS Bostic, R-l, Apr. 14. —The Oak Grove Epworth League gave a pro gram at Salem Sunday night. Rev. J. E. Hipp will fill his regular appointment at Oak Grove next Sun day night. Rev. Curtis Holland and family, cf Glendale, S. C., spent the week end at Mr. M. E. Hawkins. Miss Beulah Magness, who has been sick is improving, we are glad to note. Mr. and Mrs. Odell Harrill and little son, Bobo, of Spindale, spent Sunday night at Mr. C. B. Harrill. Those visiting at Mrs. Delia Ran dalls Tuesday evening were: Mrs. J. M. Biggerstaff, Mrs. Ina Biggerstaff and Misses Irene Harrill and Edith I Biggerstaff. Mrs. Sarah Biggerstaff, Misses Emma and Virginia Biggerstaff and jVXr. and Mrs. D. E. Hawkins and little daughter Marjorie of Avon dale, were visitors at Mr. M. E. Hawkins Tuesday. Mrs. Paul Harrill and Mrs. How ard Han-ill spent Wednesday at Mrs. J. M. Randalls. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Randall and little son James Harris, of near Forest City, spent the week end at the home of his father, Mr. K. M. Randall. Mr. John Rhoades and family *-pent Sunday at the home of his mother in this community. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hawkins and ittle daughter, Bernice, of Avon lale, spent Sunday at Mr. M. E. Hawkins. Mr. Wonnie Webb and family of Shelby, spent Sunday at Mrs. Irene W ebbs. Mrs. J. R. Biggerstaff and child ren, were visitors at the home of her mother, Mrs. Carrie Hardin at Cliff side, Sunday. Mr. W. G. Magness find family, of Forest City, and Mr. Carl Mag ness, of Lattimore, were visitors at Mr. Cliff Magness, Sunday. TWO ARE INJURED IN WRECK NEAR HERE FRIDAY Miss Catherine Dickerson, daught er of Mr. M. 0. Dickerson. clerk of (vourt of this county was injured in an automobile collision near Puzzle Creek, on Highway No. 20, Friday morning. She was taken to the hos pital where her injuries were attend ed, and discharged. Mr. J. V. O'Brien of New York, suffered an injury to his knee and leg, which was dressed bv local doctors. Miss Dickerson, in company with ker brother, # M. 0. Dickerson, Jr., s*d others were enroute to Char lotte. Mr. O'Brien, driving a Pack ard, was coming west, and was en mute to Asheville. According to re ports the Packard, after crossing the Puzzle Creek bridge, pulled over to ward the center of the" road and col lided with the car in which the Dick erson party ware riding. Fortunately, the injuries of Miss Dickerson and Mr. O'Brien were not serious. Both cars were badly dam aged. Vernon School Closing Exercises Forest City, R-3, Apr. 21.—The Mt. Vernon rural consolidated school will complete its commencement, ex ercises Saturday evening. The com mencement program opened Friday, April 18, with the recitation and de clamation contest. A gold medal was awarded in each contest. Those taking part in the recitation contest were Mabel Edgerton, Clara Thorn, Doris Edwards, Macy Humphries, Edna Goode and Pauline Morgan, while the declaimers were Elmer Guffey, A. G. Willie Bland. The seventh grade graduating exercises also were! held Friday night with a short program. Sunday evening, April 20th, at 8 o'clock the commencement sermon was preached by Rev. Hoyle, Jr., pastor of the Ruther fordton Methodist church. Tuesday evening, April at 8 o'clock was the music recital by the pupils of Mrs. W. C. Logan. Thursday evening, April 24th, the Senior class exercises will take place. The valedictory address will be delivered by MJiss Ruby Mar shall, while the salutatory address will be given by Miss Janet Mor gan. The class will present two One-act plays, "The Graduate's Choice," and "Class Ship". The Senior class exercises will be pre sented under the direction of Miss Franees McCain, high school Eng lish teacher. Literary Address. On Friday evening, April 25th at 8 o'clock the literary address will be given by a prominent speaker. The following Seniors expect to receive diplomas at this time: Vat rice Harding, Pauline, Janet and Mildren Morgan, Naomi Walker, Ramona Geer, Edna Goode, Thelma Wright, Ruby Marshall, Miriam Carson, Lillie Mae Freeman, Juani ta Logan, Robert Atchley, wade Ensley, Wilmer Humphries, William Morgan and Louise Ross. Saturday evening, April 26th, at 8 o'clock the Seniors will present their class play, "Professor Pep," under the direction of Miss Gladys Wolfe and Mr. Joe Norfleet, science teachers. JAMES T.
