Notice is hereby given that sealed
proposals will be received at the of
fice of the City Clerk until eleven
A. M., on June 17, 1930, for the
purchase of electric and water sup
ply facilities now owned and operat
ed by the City of Forest City, North
Carolina.
These proposals will be considered
by the Board as soon as practicable
thereafter, and should an acceptable
proposal be received and approved
by the Board, then this acceptable
proposal and the question of selling
the light and water utilities will be
submitted to th e voters of said city
of Forest City as soon as practicable
thereafter.
Each principal proposal will be on
forms supplied by the City, and will
state the highest cash price offered
for the utilities. In addition to this
price, each bidder will specify in
detail the exact amount to be charg
ed for all City services on lights and
water the form of franchise and
schedule of rates for water and light
services to be effective.
A certified check on some well
known bank in an amount of not
loss than three 3 per cent of the
bid, made payable to the Treasurer
of the City of Forest City without
recourse, will accompany each bid
to apply on the purchase price and
assure the carrying out of the terms
of the propsal.
Preference will be given to pro
posals on the forms supplied by the
Cityi however, jfcl/ternafce proposals
will be considered and analyzed.
The City reserves the right to re
ject any or all bids, or to-accept
such bid as appears to be to the best
interest of the City.

DIED THURSDAY

Spindale, June 9.—Funeral ser
vices for Mrs. Octavie Hamrick,
aged 69 years and eleven months,
wer e held Saturday afternoon at two
o'clock at Shiloh Baptist church.
Rev. M. M. Huntley was in charge
of the service, assisted by Rev. B.
P. Parks, pastor of the Spindale
Baptist church, and Rev. H. C. Cul
breth. Interment was in the Shiloh
cemetery.
Mrs. Hamrick died Thursday even
ing at six o'clock, at the home of
her son, 0. 0. Hamrick, in Spindale,
after only two days illness. She was
taken ill Tuesday evening at seven
i o'clock, and "her condition grew
worse until death claimed her Thurs
day.
; She is survived by four children,
i two sons and two daughters, as fol
lows: O. O. Hamrick, Spindale; J. B.
.Hamrick, Knoxville, Tenn., Mrs. E.
|M. Devinney, of Rutherfordton, R-l;
jand Miss Ila Hamrick, of Spindale.
Three brothers and two sisters sur
vive, as follows: Pryer Hamrick,
Spindale; Rev. B. M. Hamrick, Rufh
'erfordton, R-l; Mj. L. Hamrick, Spin
dale; Mrs. J. B. Wall, of Greenville,
jand Mrs. Dora Dotson, of FairvieW.
■Nine grandchildren also survive. Mrs.
jHamrick's husband, the late J. L.
, Hamrick, died in 1915, and since
[that time she has been making her
home with her children most of the
jtime. At the time of her death she
| was residing with her son, Mr. O. O.
| Hamrick.
Mrs. Hamrick was born July 2,
ilß6o. Her maiden name was Hani
!rick. She joined the Baptist church
'in young womanhood and remained
ja consistent member until death.
;When she died she was a member of
the First Baptist church, of Spindale.
