. ! Last Wednesday night the pastor
j led in a very interesting study of
j Revelations. It was an introduction
h , to the study of this book rather, and
" ■ all are asked to read the first two
chapters' of the book before the ser
-1 vice Wednesday night.
The prayer service this week will
- be held in. the main auditorium and
will start at 7:15 and be over by
eight o'clock or before in order that
those having a part in the Christ
mas Pageant may rehearse. Members
T of the choir are urged to be present.
> The pageant will be given next Sun
day evening, taking the place of the
usual preaching service.
Last Sunday was another good
day with us and the pastor brought
to us two great messages. The sub
ject for the morning service was
I "One another" and for the evening I
hour "Mo,dern Youth." Both were j
j timely and the attendance-was splen-j
j did at both services.
' At the close of the morning ser- j
j vice Mrs. Edna Hill was received for j
baptism and Mrs. Clarence Campbell.

the church pending the arrival of :
her letter. Mrs. Hill was baptized
at the close of the evening service.

was painfully injured Monday by a
fall from a mule, he was rushed to a
physician for aid.
Rev. M. D. Blanton preached an
interesting sermon at Goodes Creek
Sunday to a good sized audience.
Mr. Sam Haynes and little son
Wayne of ClifFside visited R. C.
Kennedy last Wednesday.
AVONDALE NEWS
Avondale, Dec. 16.—The Lottie
Moon circle met with Mrs. G. S.
Hall on Tuesday night of last week
for the monthly meeting. The meet
ing was called to order by the Chair
man, Mrs. R. R. Freeman. Several
readings and songs were rendered.
Business was gone through with and
a social hour. Fruits were served.
Fifteen were present.
Our Sunday school is doing nicely.
We have around two hundred each
Sunday.
Dr. S. E. Welchel delivered a
very inspiring sermon Sunday even
ing at seven o'clock. Afterward five

j The Bethlehem Pageant, a com
plete Christmas program in its self,
| will be given at the local Wesleyan
Methodist church, (near U. S. Po>t
office) Wednesday evening, Decem
ber 24, beginning at 7:30 o'clock
sharp. A leading feature of the pa
j geant an immense scenic background
or picture of Bethlehem. showing
landscape trees and buildings in na
tural colors; the hills and plains ap
pearing as they do today and prac
tically the same as they did at the
time of Christ's birth.
The pageant will make live again
before your very eyes the beginnings
of the greatest drama of the world's
history, the scenes of that wonder
ful night in Bethlehem, when the
Messiah was born. The pageant comes
from the pen of that noted writer

j going miles to see.

Clarence Arrowood and Miss Vearl
ParLon surprised their many friends
December the 4th by getting mar
ried Mrs. Arrowood is the daugh
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Parton of
Gilkey. Mr. Arrowood' is the oldest
son of Mr. and Mrs. Mack Arrowood
of Union Mills, R-l. Mr. and Mrs.
Arrowood will make their home for
a while with his father, Mr Mack
Arrowood. Their many friends wish
them a happy and successful life.
Mr. Johney Parker has been quite
sick for two weeks. His many friends
wish him an early recovery.
Mr. and Mrs. McKinley Morgan
and two children of Charlotte spent
the wc-ek-end at Mr. and Mrs. R.
Williams.
Mr. and Mrs. M. F. Nanney and
Miss Sophia Rhodes spent Tuesday
with Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Burgess
Mr. and Mrs. L. G. Blanton and

Mr. Mosie Morgan of Henderson
ville has been visiting in this com
munity friends and relatives for over
a week. Mr. Morgan was formerly
from this section and his friends all
are glad to see him.

Mr. and Mrs. M. F. Nanney.
Mr. and Mrs. Lee Brown moved
from the farm of F. D. Koon in this
community to the farm of Mr. Vernon
Harris, the pepole all welcome them
here in this community.
Mr. and Mrs. Neval Bennett and
family of Cliffside spent Sunday in
this section.
Rev. C. C. Groghan filled his regular
appointment at Montford Cove Bap
tist church Saturday and Sunday
With a large attendence both days.
Also a fine sermon given.
Mrs. Rader Gibson and Mrs. Evelyn
Fainter of Cherry Spring attended
church services here Sunday.
