Like all business es, others follow in the wake of the leader, until today many individuals have in as many localities organiz ed and established competitive stores along the same lines. In this instance we desire to call your attention to the Stahl sc, 10c, 25c stores located here in Forest City and at Rutherfordton, owned and operated by Mr. D. M. Stahl, a native of Macon, Georgia, who for years trudged his way upward and onward as an employee in several of the competitive stores of like na ture until he was enabled to em bark in business for himself. Mr. Stahl, like many other successful business men, was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth, nor was he tutored and pampered by a fond parent, but on the other hand he was taught to strive and depend up on his own iniative to work out his own world's destiny, and the writer is glad to say that he has succeded to a very marked degree. Some six years ago Mr. Stahl en tered upon his business career in Forest City with an extremely limit ed amount of capital, necessitating brain fatigue and the handiwork of both he and his wife in arranging fixtures on which to display their ' meagre stock of goods, but the de sire to win and become a fixture ( lin the business world could not *oe « j overshadowed by a few minor ob- J stacles, hence today you will find |in the Stahl store a line of novelty j merchandise seldom equalled in a city the size of Forest City. I Mr. StahPs years of experience! with those who are now his com- j petitors in some sections, taught him i the many ins-and-outs of the busi-1 ness, and being an adept and at all times having the desire to rise in the world and be a part and parcel l of the business life of a community, i and this coupled with the fact that 1 he possesses both energy and abili-j ty, has had much to do with the j success he has attained. One of the j strong characteristics of this indi-l , vidual, and one that has helped him j I to succeed, is that he is a strict stu dent of the trend of the times, a . man not of letters but of a mind that ! gives him the ability to think right, | and one that is able to comprehensivv.'- j ly analyze the various business prob lems as they confront him from day to day. !
