A TRIBUTE OF LOVE. v On March 9th. 1911, there pas Bed from this earth one of the sweetest and purest spirits we have ever known, when Lula I. Northcott entered into life eter nal. Near the close of the beau tiful day, when the sun after hav ing given comfort and light to the earth, was sinking to reet: So her beautiful life, after hav ing brought comfort to the lives of those who loved her, for near ly seventeen years, gently sank to rest in her Saviour's arms She said she knew He would come for her because she had nut her trust in Him; so He did come and took her to liv with Him. On March 11th, the bell of St. John's Episcopal Church which had so often called her, rang out its mornful summons to the last service the church could render her, es her bodv lay before the chancel rail, where she had so often knelt. The choir sang sweetly the hymn that had been sung at her confirmation, "My faith looks up to Thee." Other hymns sung were "Abide with me," "Asleep in Jesus and the Christian good night. " The buri al service was read by Rev. C. T. Smith of Elizabeth City, who made a beautiful and comforting talk of the Heavenlv inheritances into whitch she had entered. There was also a sweet talk by Prof. N W. Britton, who had been her teacher for several years. His talk was a beautiful tribute to her life and her influ ence, closing with an appeal to her young friends to follow her example. The service concluded with the comforting hymn, "Rock of ages cleft for me. Let me hide my self in Thee." We feel that she is safe and happy in Paradise with Jesus, and other friends who had gone before, but we can not help mis sing her, and the place she filled in our lives is sad and lonely Especially will she be missed in her church, where she was a faith ful little worker. She was bap tised when five years old, and confirmed when eleven, and ever since, she has been a true little soldier of Christ. fighting manful ly under his banner until her life's end. When the Junior auxiliary was formed, she became its Secretary, and filled this position most ef ficiently until she went to College last September. Just a year ago we were hold ing joint Lenten meeting of the Woman's Guild and the Jur.ior Auxiliary, the President of thu Guild leading alternately with Lula. She led them beautifully, and one could see that her whole heart was in them. One meeting that she led lingers especially sweet in our memories its subject was "prayer" and our dear little leader seemed even more earnest Nature makes the cures ar .r all. Now and then she gets into a tight place and needs helping out. Things get started in the wrong direction. Something is needed to check disease and start the system in the right direction toward health. Scott's Emulsion of Cod Liver Oil with hypo phosphites can do just this. It strengthens the nerves, feeds famished tis sues, and makes rich blood. The same spirit pervaded us all, and for the time being, we were lifted into a high er and purer atmosphere. For about a year she had been our Sunday School Organist, and we were looking forward to the time when she might be the as sistant Church Organist; but it was not to be. God hath called her to the Church Triumphant, and there, .we feel that she stil remembers and loves us. She loved her church with her whole heart, and she loved Jesus, and we who must carry on the work which she has laid down, feel that her influence and example will be with us to help and en courage us, till we too, reach that blessed Home, where, she with others whom we have loved and lost, waits to melcome us. "The strife is o'er. The battle done; The victory of life is won. The song of triumph has begun. Alleluia!" Aunt Bertie and Miss Jessie, When Old Age Is a Curse. Orison Swett Marden in "Success Mag' When it has lost self-respect When the old have not won the respect, the confidence and the admiration of relatives and those nearest to them. When they do no stand for any thing in their community. When their neighbors would not consider their departure any loss. When the imagination is foul and the thought impure. When all the useful fires have gone out and only embers remain. When the individuality has been burned out the fires of dis sipation. When all the reserves of ener gy and force have been prema turely exhusted by a vicious life. When the individual has not learned the art of self-control and patience. When young people can not live with it with any comfort. When it has developed only vul garity, coarseness and animality, When it has left the individual ugly, disagreeable, touchy, cvni cal, uncharitable, unkind. When hope and cheer have fled. When ambition and aspiration are dead. When they have lost their zest for life, the desire for usefulness. When they have no aim in life. When the sap of life has gone and the individual is like a juice- less orange When all that is good, sweet and noble has evaporated and life is empty. Fine Farm Land In Southwest Georgia For Sale.
