II t Conway Locals. "MiBses Claudia and Ethel Brie tow left last week for Norfolk to spend a few days. Mr. Carson Kerans of Wash injrton. D. C. spent last week with his mother.Mrs.R T. White. TheEpworth League gave lawn party at the parsonage last Tuesday evening for the benefit of the League. Hiss Mattie and Bashie Sykes ieftlast Thursday for Virginia Beach where they will attend the Baptist Encampment Misses Nita M. Hedgepeth and Ruth P. Waff left Saturday for Greensboro to attend the Teach rs Institute, From there they will visit other places farther West. Misses Martin from Youngs Ttlle spent last week in the home of Mrs. Billie Lassiter. Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Stephenson from Margarettsville spent sev eral days last week with Mr. and Mrs. R. T. White. Rev. and Mrs. W. C. Merritt of Rich Square spent last Friday in the home of Mr. Abner Lassi- Mr. Vernon Drake from Han Boms, Va..recently spent several dys with Mr. John White. Rev. W.B. Waff, who has been in Sarah Leigh Hospital for an operation, is expected home this Mr. J.T. Rice and family spent Sunday in Norfolk. One of the most pleasant events of the season was a reception given Saturday, the 5th.,by Rev. and Mrs. R. T. White in honor of the latter's son. Mr. Carson Kerans, recently of Alaska, but now of Washington, D. C. Mrs. W. J. Lassiter met the guests at the door and introduced them to the receiving line, which con sisted of Rev. and Mrs. R. T. White, Messrs. Carson Kerans and Kelly White, Mrs. W. B. Waff, Messrs. W. J. and Abner Lassiter. After the guests bad been presented to the receiving line they were invited into the hall where fruit punch was served by Mrs. Ed. Stephenson, Misses Agnes Flythe and Ella Mae Nixon. Miss Mary Vinson then conducted them to the sit ting room where ice cream was served bv Misses Nita Hedge peth. Ruby Rice and Emily Long. Misses Lennie Stephenson and Ruth P. Waff furnished music during the evening. Those pres ent were: Mr. and Mrs. Abner Lassiter, Mr. and Mrs. Will Las siter, Mrs. Ed. Stephenson, Mrs W. B. Watt, Missea Mary and Myra Vinson, Bernice Atkinson, Carrie Joyner, Agnes Flythe, Claudia and Ethel Bristow.
