THJE BOANOKB- CHO"W AH TIMEb THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, 1913. Otoej School CpeDlDg. A very gratifying attendance greeted the faculty at the open' Jug of Olney school the 15th. We believe every student of school age living in the district and not attending other places was in at tendance except four, three of whom were unable to come through illness. Upwards of fifty patrons and visitors were present. Among our valued guests from outside the district were Cyrus W. Har vey and Juliana Peele Harvey from Rich Square, both of whom made very encouraging and im pxessive talks, in addition we heard words from James N. Fut rell, one of our oldest citizens and one to whom the school al ways likeB to hBten, members of the school committee, trustees and others. The keynote of the talks was co-operation. Only with it can the height of success be reached. One speaker empha sized the fact that there is a three-fold side to the student's being, each of which must be de veloped or the others will suffer. A shade of sadness passed over tiie audience as we realized afresh that one of our long faithful teachers, Margaret C. Urown.had severed her connection with the school However we feel that her interests are so deeply rooted in the school that, though absent in body, she will-be present in spirit We are happy to say that the committee has secured the services of a worthy successor, in the person of Ethel Futrell of Jackson, to whom we extend a hearty welcome. She has already won the hearts of the little ones and hence we know her success is assured. The earnest faces of the stu dents spoke plainly they had a purpose and we trust this year will be the crowning one in the history of the school. H. J. S. I HAVE SUCCEEDED. As it was ordered at the an tnual meeting of the Fire Insur ance Association at Ahoskie on September 2nd that I should Be cure a man for each county, Northampton, Hertford and Ber tie. and have them inspect all of the property insured by this As sociation and report the condition of the same to this office as early as possible. I now give notice that I have secured Mr. W. L. Stephenson of Jackson. Mr. W. S. Nelson of Murfreesboro for Hertford and W. J. Watson for Bertie. I hope the policy-holders will assist these gentlemen in the per- formance of this important work so that the work may soon be over. Ihev are expected to take applications for new policies as they are making these rounds and make any change that the policy-holders wish made in their insurance. (Adv.) Albert Vann. Notice!
