On account of the sickness of her father, Miss Mary Ellen Griffin did not return to school at Rich Square until Tuesday. Dr. P. C. The Woman's Betterment As sociation of Occoneechee has been reorganized withiMrs. Etta Read, Pres. ; Mrs. J. D. Waller, Vice Pres.; Mis Mary Ellen Read, Sec, and Treas.; Miss Z? nobia Harris, Chm. of Social Ser vice Committee; Miss Ruth Tay lor, Chm. Membership Commit tee. The association has map ned out a series of services for betterment of school building and grounds. Mr. Herbert Stephenson will have a genuine old time corn shucking on his farm next Fri day night with barbecue and other interesting attendant fea tures. Mr. Stephenson has an unusually fine corn crop and ex pects a big harvest. There is an interesting Sunday School service held in the school building every Sunday morning at ten o'clock with Mr. Bogue Stephenson as Superintendent. The Sunday School is composed :0f Methodists and Baptists. The road between Gumberry and Seaboard is seriously in need of repair, several bridges being unsafe. Teachers' Meeting. Mrs. Harris, of Portsmouth, Va., is visiting her daughter, Mrs. C. P. Martin. On October 5, Miss Ethel Kel ly met at the school building to reorganize our Betterment As sociation. The following officers being elected: President, Mrs. Wm. Boone; vice president, Mrs. Will Lassiter; secretary-treasurer, Mrs. P. C. Brittle; program committee. Miss Genola Ward, Mrs. J. P. Garris, Mrs. Milton Flythe; social and refreshment committee, Mrs. E. IC. Rose, Mrs. J. F- Martin, Mrs. W. A. Davis, Miss Mary Erekson; civic committee, Mr. A. , D. Martin, Mrs. Wiley Odom.
