MAY 13, 1926 There are a number of candi dates for the local offices in Northampton county but the campaign is conducted, so far as we are informed, in a most friendly spirit. This is as it should be The enforcement [of the liquor laws is the principal issue in the present political campaign in this State. The leaders would hardly acknowledge it, but it is true all the same, from the lowest to the highest office. Left Out Much interesting maltfr re ceived f(r this weeks paper we are compelled to leave out, some of it to appear next week Among others, an account oi the meeting of County Fidera tion of Missionary Societies, ai Pleasant Grove, an article by thf County Health Officer. In addition parts of every newt letter had to be left out, and editorials. Sometimes curres pendents in their hurry in writ ing personal items fail to men tion the home of the per.«oiu they are writing about, and poch items are always omitted, if s'gi by the editor before ihe printer gets the copy. Several itemt were left out this week for thai reason. Most everybody who writes for the paper waits until the last moment to mail their letters, conseauently most every thin;/ that comes to this office is re ceived just before the paper U made up, and having a limited force it is impossible to get the matter in type without delaying the paper in -going out, and this we never do. In his death Con way community has lost a va! uable citizen and a good friend Mr. Liles was born in North ampton County on the 24th of October, 1840. At a very young age he entered the Civil War and served in the Confederate Army. While those who knew him are sad on account of his death, we can’t help but rejoice that he was permitted, through the good ness of God. to live so many years among us. He was pat riotic to his State and county, was devoted to his family, loved his church and was a friend to his neighbors. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Francis Liles, one son, W. T. Liles, and one daughter, Mrs. W. F. Ebert, Utica, New York.
