Miss Pearl Panton left Monday to spend several days with her sister. Mrs. Raymond Davis. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Timberlake of Woodland were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. T.H. Timberlake Mr. and Mrs. Joe Collier and son of Severn were Sunday \isit ora of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Jen kins, Mrs, Raymond Davis and dau gbters, Frances and Miron, have returned to their home in Nor folk after spending several days with her father. Mr. and Mrs, M. L. Lassiter visited their daughter Mary in Roanoke Rapids hospital Sunday. Misses Irma and Gladys Odom of Portsmouth arrived Sunday to spend sometime with their grand parents,Mr. and Mrs. Neil Odom Miss Marguerite Pierce of Ahoskie arrived Tuesday to spend sometime with Miss Hattie Mae Coggin. Miss Blanche Spivey of Rich Square met with the Young Peo pie’s Missionary Society Sunday morning and made a very inter esting talk, Mrs, Hattie D. Johnson and son Alton and niece, Loraine Askew, visited friends near Mur freesboro Sunday. Methodist quarterly meeting will be held here Saturday and Sunday, July 17th and 18th. Mrs. Robert Gilliam and niece, Lucile Bedford, have returned home from Baltimore after spend ing sometime with relatives. Mr. Vernon Pihnd of Ports mouth spent the week end with bis mother, Mrs. Emma Piland, Mr. S. G. Askew was in Nor folk Monday on business. Mr. and Mrs. Connie King of Tunis were the week end guests of Mrs. M. D. Britt. Mr. William Stradley Igft Sun day to spend several days with his parents in Swedsboro, N. J. Mr. Grady Jenkins ofNewbern is visiting his father, Mr. J. W, Jenkins. Last Thursday afternoon, July 8, about three o’clock the death angel visited the home of Mr. and Mrs, A R. Futrell and took from their midst their little son, Thomas, age 2 years. The funeral service was held Friday afternoon with Rev. Gale officiating.
