We are having some beautiful beautiful spring weather at this writ ing, also a few mosquitoes. There was quite a large fire in the woods Sunday night, although it did not do much damage. A number of young people from this community were visitors at Roe Saturday night. Misses Mattie Day and Lucy P. Daniels spent Sunday at Roe visiting friends. Mr. Harvey Daniels of Lenoxville is here for a few days thi3 week visit ing relatives. Quite a number of people from this place went to. the "Farm" Sunday to see the new road. Miss Winnie Smith of North Riv er is here visiting her grand parents Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Smith. Miss Ellen Lupton who is attend ing school at Beaufort spent the week end at home with her mother, Mrs. Sophia Lupton. BAY VIEW. (By Mamie Lee Dowdy) We had frost last night (Monday night.) Miss Bessie Barnes is spending a few days at Wildwood this week vis iting her aunt Mrs. E. L. Bell. The cold frosty nights and wintry days seem chilly after the beautiful spring days we have been having. Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Garner and family of Newport spent the day with his sister Mrs. J. H. Dowdy of Newport spent Monday here visiting relatives. Quite a number of Beaufort girls and boys passed through here Sun day enroute to Newport. Virginia Dare Wallace and Elsie Mae Whalley are ill with the whoop ing cough, and Mary B. Culpepper also. R. L. Haskett the nifant son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Haskett is very ill at present. We hope he will soon be well again. Mr. Emmitt Dickinson of Lokeland Florida was a business visitor at the home of Mr. W. H. Dowdy Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Leonard for merly of this place but who has been living in Miami, Florida for a while returned yesterday. We .anV to welcome them back again. Mr. Edward Ch-idwick and Miss Julia Graham driving a Ford roadster and Messrs. William and Alex Gra ham and Misses May Belle Williams of Newport and Alma Chadwick in a Ford Sedan ran together Sunday. Miss Julia Graham got cut several times as she went through the wind shield. Mr. Edward Chadwick got his hand cut but not very badly. C. is at home visiting his mother this week. The small child of Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Bell is very ill. The trouble is not definitely known. Miss Dorothy Heath of Kinston spent Sunday with her grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Hill. The pageant "Golden Youth," will be given by the Epworth League, April 3rd in the M. E. Church South.
