Morehead City Revival Meetings
Are Now Arousing Much Interest

Morehead City, April lath.
The revival meetings which began
here at First Baptist church Sunday
April 3rd. are now in full swing.
These meetings are being conducted
by Dr. Oscar Haywood of Mount
Gilead, N. C. evangelist and Mr. V.
Furman Belts, of Ealeigh, X. C. sing
er. Not only is Dr. Haywood a not
ed platform speaker, but he is nlso
one of the foremost Gospel preachers
of today. While his messages are
highly intellectual and soul stirring,
yet he possesses eloquence that is
rarely found in a fine way. These
evangelists grip the hearts of their
hearers at every service, and the in
terest in the meetings is growing
from day to day. In many respects
this promises to be one of the great
est revivals the church has held in
many years.

the school auditorium. After the
meetinf opened with jirayer by
Prof. Joslyn, Miss Bettie Harker,
President called for the reports of
the officer.
The treasurer due to a went play

reported a large balance im hand.
The members voted that $225 of this
be expended on scenery to lie pur.
chased for the stage in the auditor
ium, and other sums to be used for
expenses of putting on the play.
A rising vote of thanks was tender

recting the production.
Mrs. Lincoln, chairman of .pro
gram committee gave an inUretting
report. She announced the progiam

music week.
The asociation unanimously endore

at their graduating .exercises. The
junior clase has also adopted the
same plan.
T' e club was enjojably entertain
ed by the high school band quartette
composed of Messrs: H. L. Joslyn,
Jno. ThiQips, James Wilds and
Ralph Watfe.
Mrs. Lezih Jones Stevens of New
Bern gave a talk to the association
about the Children's Founders Roil
of the Stone Mountain Memorail As
sociation. Mrs. J. F. Giudens, chairman of
the nominating committee presented
names of thi following new officers
which were accepted with a rising
vote:

ORPHANAGE CONCERT CLASS
HERE FRIDAY EVENING
The annual concert give nby pupils
from the Odd Fi How's orphanage lo
cated at Goldsboro will take place
hue tomorrow evening at 8 o'clock
st the Graded School auditorium.
Lat year the conceit class from this
institution rendered a good program
here and it is reported that the en
tertainment this year is fully up to
the standard. The entertainment
consists of songs, readings, drills, and
orchestral numbers.
COTTON FASHION SHOW
TAKES PLACE MONDAY
The Cotton Fashion Show will be
given Monday April 18, 7:30 P. M.
at the graded school auditorium.
Judges will be awarded prizes for
the following entrances:
Ladies most attractive house dress.
Ladies most attractive street dress
Ladies prettiest afternoon dress.
Gorls most practical school dress
from 7th grade through high school.
Girls most sensible school dress
from 1st grade to and including the
6th.
Boy's most attractive suit up to j
and including six years of age. j
Anybody in Beaufort is eligible to i
enter the show as contestant free of j
chaige. No admission will be charg I
ed to see the display. Everybody is j
urged to wear cotton both contest
ants and spectators.

GEODETIC SURVEY BOAT !
FINISHES WORK HERE
The U. S. geodetic survey boat
Mikawe spent several days in the
harbor here this week doing some
work. Lieutenant Fred Peacock is
in command of the boat and there
are six young men assisting in the
surveys that are being made. All cf
these men are college graduates and
hold B. S. degrees. Several of thein
have done work on the Pacific coast
and in other parts of the country.
P'or several .weeks they hava been
working up Bogue Sound and recent
ly at Shackelford Banks, Fort Macon
and Beaufort harbor. They have
been making tide observations, de
termining the mean sea level and
doing topographical work. They are
also making a map of the south side
of Bogue Sound. The work in Beau
fort Harbor was finished Wednesday.

for the day. Services appropriate to
