Graham of Bay View were visitors in this neighbor hood Sunday. We had a fine picnic at the F. W. ! body seemed to have a good time. It has been said by many people that there was the largest crowd there that has been at a picnic in many . years. Miss Eravance Merrill was the guest of Miss Nellie Skinner Sunday ! afternoon. Miss Bernice Graham spent the week end with Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Skinner. There will be services held at the F. W:. Baptist chuvch Sunday morn ing and Sunday night by the pastor Reverend Luke Weatherington. Ev eryone is invited to come. ' Mrs. Dora Merrill of Wire Grass was the guest of Mrs. G. G. Skinner -Sunday aftretnoon. Mrs. J. J. Skinner who has been sick for quite a while seems to be much inproved. old. He was the son of the late Ben jamine and Artilly Wade of this com munity. He was married to the late Sarah' E. Willis in 18G!. and to this union were born nine children five girls and-four boys. Out of this num ber seven are living to mourn his loss. They are Mrs. Mary J. Piner, Mrs. Regenia Piner. Mrs. Mervina Fulcher. Mrs. Irene Willis, Mr. James W. and Charlie C Wade of Williston rrA Mr. Orlando Wade of Morehead City, N. C. He also leaves one brother Mr. Isaiah Wade of Morehead City. Thirty thre? grand children, seven teen great grand children and sever al nieces and nephews and a host of trends who regret his death. Tn enrlv life he ioined the Meth odist church here and remained a j faithful member until his death. He had a splendid character and was lov ed by all who knew him. He was laid to rest in the family burying ground in the church yard Sunday afternoon, July 3rd amidst i large concourse of relatives and friends and neighbors from different parts of the county. As a tribute of respect from his many friends his grave was covered with beautiful floral offerings. Funeral services were conducted by Reverend L. L. Smith of Beaufort. Miss Estelle Dixon and two friends of New Bern arrived Wednesday to visit relatives and friends. Mr. Clayton Willis returned home Monday from Atlantic. Miss Ethel Gilgo, Esther Gaskins snd Mr. Lionel Gilgo returned home Tuesday from Beaufort. Mr. E. G. Dixon left Monday for Cape Lookout where he is employed. Misses Alfred Graham, Mildred Fillpot of Wading Creek were the guests of Miss Nellie Skinner Sunday morning. OTWAY The weather is clear at present. Hope it will continue so. WILLISTON Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Fulcher and daughter Christine spent the week end at Beaufort the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Parkin. Mr. B. B. Lawrence made a bus ines trip to Beaufort Saturday. Mrs. W. C. Dowty spent a while with Mrs. James Gillikin and while there made some pictures for Mrs. 1 Gillikin. A number of people from here at tended the picnic at Marshallberg the 7th. All reported a fine time. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Willis and son James, Mr.a nd Mrs. Leslie Piner and children spent the week end at New Bern the guests of Mrs. Piner's sister Mrs. Alex Tosto. Mrs. Hallie R. White was a bus iness visitor in our community Monday. j Mrs. L. B. Chadwick and son of Straits, spent a few days here last week visiting her mother, Mrs. Olive Willis. Mrs. Harvey Piner is spending the week at Straits visiting her parents Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Gaskill. Mrs. Nora and Regenia Piner spent a short while at Beaufort Monday shopping. Mr. Will Blades of New Bern and Captain Buck Parkins were business visitors here one day last week. Mrs. Wade Meadows of New Bern spent a short while in our community Thursday on business. On Saturday afternoon Juty 2nd about 4:30 o'clock the death angel came and took from us one of our oldest citizens, Mr. Robert J. Wade. He wp.s ill about a week. ' Mr. Wade was born September 14th 1849 be Mr. Harry Lawrence who has been emnloved for some time on the U S. E. D. Currituck at Fairfield spent the week end with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Riley Lawrence. Mr. and Mrs. A. D. O'Bryan of Raleigh have returned ta spend the Mrs. George R. Willis amd Clay- ton left Saturday for Morehead City, j Mrs. Edward Burrus of Hatteras is visiting her daughter Mrs. W. P. Willis this week. Mrs. EL G. Dixon left Sunday for her home at Cape Lookout.
