Now my dear readers that looks to me that they couldn't make a fairer promise but I just bet you all that if th: whole board of State Highway Commissioners were W come down and make jut such a promise they wouldn't turn the roads satisfactory with all. So I want to ask the board for the benefit of the lenders of the Berufort News and also the tax payers and citizens of Carteret county, to send out a state ment of what the lumber and all pil ing has cost, also nails and all work done on all the roads in the county for the past year so as to let all concerned in it know whether the board has saved any out of the $20, 000 gas tax money or not. I have in my opinion that the roads have cost more than that so we would like to hear from them so as to know it would be better for the state to take over the roads of Car- buildings and improvements thereon. It being the same property conveyed to John A. Memakis by deed of C. L.
