Mr. McKeber Lupton left Wednes day for Baltimore, Md., He's been greatly missed by the people of this community. Skinner is very feeble at present. Every one hopts he will soon be better. H. Pake and chil dren motored to Marshallberg Sun day afternoon. April the 20th Alfred Chadwick Whitehurst the son of the late Oliver, and Ann Maria Whitehurst died, he ! was 76 years old. He had been sick ! for some time and knew that his j days were numbered. He was patient in his illness and talked often of dy- ing and seemed unafraid to go. He was a faithful member of the Metho-' dist church anda diligent worker. He I leaves a host of friends and acquaint- j anees that will miss his pleasant words. He leaves a wife, two dau?h ters and two sons: Mrs. Hubert Wat-j son, Mrs. Stacy Murphy and Grady Whitehurst of Straits, Mr. Percy ' Percy Whitehurst of Punta. The seventh grade pupils from Merrimon and Lukens met at the South River school house Saturday .r.pril 26 to take the county tests. Miss uustin was there. There were three from Lukens: Nellie Banks and Joseph Mason, three from South Riv. er: Sadie Wallace, Floyd Hardy and Harry Hardy and three from Merri mon: Marrian Carraway, Louise Car raway and Luther Carraway. There were only two that passed, Marrian Carraway and Luther Carraway. LENOXVILLE Mrs. Guy Daniels who has been vis Mr. and Mrs. James Will and Lettie Pake spent the week end at Lola.
