NEWPORT Miss Brownie Giles, who several years ago made a large number of friends here, at the time her father served as pastor of the M. E. church, spent a short while here Saturday. She now resides at Washintgon, N. C. Alvin D. Garner, of Hopewell, Va., who was called to the bedside of his brother W. B. Garner of R. F. D. No. 2, returned to his home Satur day, Mr. W. B. Garner who has been ill with pneumonia, is now recuperating. The Edwards Drug Co., of this place are making many improvements in the remodeling of their Drug Store besides painting same inside and out they have erected a filling station ad joining, and expect to carry the PUROIL Products, through Carteret's distributor, George Finer, of More head City. The filling station is most modern and attractive, and is painted white and blue. They open their filling station to the public Sat urday, the 28th inst. Mr. T. L. Crib, assistant manager of the Carolina Sweet Potato Assn. of Florence, S. C, spent a while in our town Saturday, attending to bus- iness matters. Miss Leota Robinson, of Atlantic, and who for the last past eighteen months has been in New York Citv taking training to become a nurse, spent a short while in our town Sat urday, visiting her aunt Mrs. Leon A. Mann. Mr. Leonard 0. Garner, student at State College after spending a few days here visitnig relatives and friends, returned Monday. Mr. Floyd Garner, student at the University after spending a few davs here, visiting relatives and friends, ! night returned Monday. ! Born to Mr. and Mrs. George Lynch, March the 20th a son. Miss Margaret Hamilton of Beau fort hospital was the guest of Mrs. Vernon Simpson Thursday and Fri day. Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Simpson at tended Wade's theatre at Morehead City last Friday night.
