Hedgepeth of Moreheao City ailed his regular appointment here Sunday at Bay View Baptist church. Rev. V. E. Anderson of Morehead City will fill his appointment here Sunday, the 20th at the Free Will Baptist church at 3 o'clock. Every one is invited. Several people in the community are on the sick list. Hope all of them e speedy recovery. Mrs. Nannie Small, Mrs. W. C. Williams and little daughter, Bettie Crocker visited Mrs. A. N. Bell of Harlowe last Thursday. A number of people from this community visited Mr. J. T. Graham who is a patient in Potters Hospital Saturday and Sunday. All hope he will soon be able to come home. Several of the farmers are busy getting their potatoes planted. Mrs. Edward Chadwick and small son of Harlowe spent Sunday night with her parents Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Graham. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Small spent awhile Sunday at Russell Creek with her parents Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Powell. Mr. Charlie Freeman spent Friday night in Beaufort with his mother Mrs. B. L. Freeman. Mr. J. F. Small and Mr. J. C. Skin ner made a business trip to New Bern Tuesday. Mrs. Helen Russell's place. We are all wishing for Mr. and Mrs. Gray much success in their new home. LENOXVILLE NEWPORT The Newport-Morehead basketball game was played Tuesday night Feb ruary 8. Newport gymnasium. Tne Newport boys and girls were both victorious. There will be a dance at Newport gymnasium Finlay night around 8 o'clock sponsored by the Athletic As sociation. The Newport-Atlantic game Fri day night last at Newport gymnasium ended with a victory for the New port girls and a loss for the boys. The score was girls 33-14; boys 29 28. The Newport charge of the Metho dist Church South, held ite second Quarterly Conference at Havelock Methodist Church Sunday afternoon at 3:00 P. M. All churches on the charge were represented. Mrs. Helen Henderson died at the Morehead City Hospital Thursday morning with pneumonia. Funeral services were held Friday at Cedar Grove Cemetery. She is survived by four children' and her husband Mr. Claud Henderdson. Mis. A. R. Mann, Margerie Gar her, and Mary Emily Mann drove to Atlantic last Sunday. Jvl: J. M. NORTH RIVER The North River iome demonstra tion club met at th- home of Mrs. J. S. Fuleher, Feb. 1( with 22 members present, the president presided. Mrs. S. E. Hayne and Mrs. Billie Smith, food and nutrition leaders gave a very interesting talk on their special suojecis. Mrs. nayne gave n nice report on the county council and Mrs. J. S. Fuleher gave interest ing talk about her trip to New Bern to the canning school of which we got some interesting points. We de cided to take up a collection to pay our Jane S. McKimmon loan fund. Also our Federation dues. Our club score for the month was 106. After the business the meeting was turned over to the recreation leaders. The program was carried out in Valentine style. Nine members and two visitors were present. Rev. and Mrs. Boggs of Newport met with us. Always glad to have visitors. Mrs. L. P. Taylor, pres. presided. The meeting was called to order on time and was opened by singing the song "Sing Your Way Home." The Collect was read in unison by club members. Mr3. J. K. Parker filled her capac ity as secretary. Two members reported work done last month in year book gave their interesting re ports. Johnston County Ramblers of Rocky Mount gave a musical pro gram at White Oak School Saturday night, Feb. 5th sponsored by our club and Bethlehem church. Proceeds were divided between the two clubs and church. Our club voted at last meeting to have the J. C. Ramblers come back in March. Their music and singing was enjoyed very much.
