Missionary Circle Meeting. The Lizzie Chadwick Missionary Circle met Monday night with Mrs. Bernice Jarman at the home of Mrs. Annie Rice, with a good at tendance. Much work was plan ned. Work on the parsonage was put under way. A good report was given. RETURN FROM WILMINGTON Mr. and Mrs. R. Hugh Hill and young son, Stewart, returned Sat urday from Dr. Sidbury's hospital at Wilmington where the child un derwent an operation for tonsils and adenoids. He was reported as getting along nicely. NASHVILLE PEOPLE AT ATLANTIC BEACH Among others enjoying Atlantic Beach during the month of July, are Judge and Mrs. W. J. Bone, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bone and Rev. Charles McConnell, pastor of the First Baptist church at Nash ville. They are stopping at the Ed Batchelor cottage and Monday they enjoyed a cruise on Charlie Brittin's boat, "The Bumblebee." Mrs. Britton, a cousin of the Bones, is accompanying them. MISS LUC1LE RICE HOSTESS AT BRIDGE Miss Lucille Rice was hostess to her club and additional guests on Tuesday evening, coring high for the evenings play was Mrs. Hal sey Paul with Mrs. John Brooks receiving the slam award. Miss Rice served a delicious sweet course. MRS. JACK WINDLEV ENTERTAINS AT CARDS Mrs. Jack Windley was hostess to three tables of Contract Bridge on Thursday afternoon. Delicious ice cream in lily molds was served with iced punch. High scorer for the afternoon's play was Mrs. Hal sey Paul, with Mrs. Hardy Lewis winning second high. MR. AND MRS. GRAYDON PAUL HOSTS AT ANNUAL FISH FRY Mr. and Mrs. Graydon Paul were hosts on Thursday evening at their annual fish fry on Shack elford Banks. Around 50 guests were present for the happy oc casion. Besides the delectable fish cook ed on fires built on the beach there were baked beans, tomatoes, rolls, pickles, individual pies, and hot coffee. After the splendid supper the entire group gathered on the beach, where pleasant conversa tion was interspersed with the singing of old time songs. B. L. JONES CARRIES FRIENDS TO SEA B. L. Jones, owner and opera tor of Ben's Bicycle and Stove Shop, entertained a number of his friends a day or two ago by taking them on a pleasure trip to Atlantic Beach, Morehead City, Shackleford Banks, and to Cape Lookout. The trip was made aboard Capt. Charlie Carroll's yacht, the "Pilot." Among the visitors were: W. B. Glover, Nor folk; Miss Applehouse, and Mr. and Mrs. Passel, of Kinston. MRS. She was accompanied by her sister Mrs. W. A. Mace. EDITOR HOPEWELL NEWS VISITS IN BEAUFORT. Mr. A. Robbins, editor of the Hopewell, Virginia, News is spend ing a few days in Beaufort. He states that he is very much im pressed with this section and in tends to return again whenever he can get the time off to do so. BRIDGE LUNCHEON AT AMERICAN LEGION HUT On Thursday morning from ten until one, Mrs. Theo. A. Richards. of this city, Mrs. Luther T. Bu chanan, of Louisburg, and Mrs. Robert G. Bennett, of Pittsburg, Pa., were hostesses at a charming bridge luncheon, at the American Legion Hut. The Hut was artistically deco rated with summer flowers and a nautical motif ' was carried out in table accessories and the iogtiimes of those serving. A delicious luncheon was served to about seventy guests by Misses Robert Shaw, Sadie Moore, Doro thy Day and Frances Buchanan. High score was presented to Miss Gladys Chadwick and second high was won by Mrs. Charles Cul len, of Tarboro. Mrs. Luther T. Hamilton, of Morehead City, re ceived the consolation. Mrs. Ed gar Swann drew the lucky prize and Mrs. Eric Bell, of Wilson, re ceived the floating prize. Out of town guests were Mrs. James D. Murray, of .Smithfield; Mrs?
