in contact with a four foot alliga
tor. After quite a struggle he
captured him barehanded. He gave
it to the laboratory at Pivers Is
land. He stated that for a while it
was him or the alligator.
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Lawrence
of Baltimore are here on a visit
with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. L.

The 32-bed addition to Emerg
ency Hospital at Morehead City,
built under the supervision of the
Richmond regional office of the
Federal Works Agency, will be
ready for occupancy by next Mon
day, FWA Regional Engineer C.

The building, a temporary
frame structure with concrete

installing plumbing, heating and
electrical equipment is expected to
be completed this week. The new
addition will increase the hospit
al's capacity to 60 beds.
The hospital annex was built as
a war public works project to pro
vide medical care for military per
sonnel and war workers in the
Morehead City area. A Federal
grant of $54,000 was allotted to
Morehead City to cover the cost
of construction and equipment.
The construction work was done
