Mr. and Mrs. John Pearson,
Pivers Island, leave Friday to
spend two weeks in Virginia.
Mrs. C. R. Eubanks returned
Friday from a visit with Sgt. Eu
banks at Gainesville, Fla.
Mr. and Mrs. Manly Styron and
Lt. and Mrs. E. E. Warren, of Bal
timore, have been spending a
week at Atlantic Beach and with
Mr. Styron's parents, Mr. and
Mrs. H. W. Styron, Orange Street.
Mr. Styron and Lt. Warren are
both USCG stationed with the
Captain of the Port at Baltimore.
Mrs. Cora Hopkins, of Pinehurst
left Monday for TaYboro after re
lieving for Mr. B. C. Vickery,
during his vacation.

left at the week-end after visit

returned Sunday from a trip
Mrs. Fred Garner underwent
an ppendectomy at Morehead
City Hospital Wednesday. Her
condition today is reported to be
good.
Miss Janice Murphy and brother
Jim returned home Thursday from
Wilmington Hospital after having
their tonsils removed this week.
Henry Norcom returned from
Columbia last week after visitina
his brother Will and family.
Mrs. Iris Pizia Simpson and
Mrs. Eva Garner left Sunday for
Washington, D. C, to visit Mrs.
Pizio's brother, Cox Hermon L.
Simpson USN stationed there.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Willis, Mr.
and Mrs. Ernest Nelson spent the
week end with Mr. and Mrs. Stacy
Nelson in Aulander.

ton as guest for the evening.
The spacious living room was
lovely with arrangements of mari
golds in yellow and gold. Three
tables of friends played four pro
gressions of bridge after which
Miss Lena Duncan was awarded
the :prize for high score a
double deck of playing cards. Miss
Lessie Arrington who held the
only hand of the evening without
a face card was consoled with an
attractive book mark.
Mrs. Wheatly served a delicious
fruit salad, hot cheese biscuit,
sandwiches, anda fruit drink.
Brooks Snowa and the late Henry
Linwood Snowa, of Richmond, Va.,
weie united in marriage in a cere
mony of beautiful simplicity in the
chapel of the First Baptist church
in Richmond, at three o'clock.
Saturday, August 20. The Revfl

of the church, performed the
double ring ceremony.
The chapel was decorated with
white gladioli and clematis arrang
ed against banks of palm. Silver
candelabra held burning white
tapers. Prior to the ceremony, Miss
Elizabeth Buxton, played a num
ber of selections, and Mrs. Clar
ence E. Green of Henderson Bang,
"I love you Truly" and "Because."
The bride was attended bv Mrs.
Charles Bennett Deane, who was
her sister's only attendant. She
wore an ashes of roses chiffon
gown with hat to match and car ried
a bouquet of summer flowers
