Rats Eat Savings of Lifetime.
Jack Simpson of Aitkin, Minn.,
has written President Taft to
the effect that he had* saved up
$2,595 to buy a farm and that
when he went to get it out of the
ceiling of his house where he had
hidden it, he found that rats had
eaten it. The snug sum was re
duced to powder by the rodents.
He hopes to have the remnants
redeemed by the treasury de
partment but his chances appear
slim.
