his family at home.

Prof Rat ley spent the holidays with
relatives in Mocksville.
Miss Mary Lynch spent a week in
Spartanburg with friends
Miss Addie McAuley, of Wadesboro,
wai in the city this week.
The Charlotte Light Infantry looked
splendid in their new overcoats.

The emancipation celebration was a
complete success in every particular. •
Miss Sallie Hall spent a part of the
holidays with friends in Moorcsville.
Miss Lydia Robinson and Mrs Phoebe
Torrence spent Christmas in Salisbury.
Miss Minnie Sumner has gone to Shelby
to teach. Her departure was unexpect
ed.
Prof. Atkins, of Livingston, spent a
part of tbe holidays with friends in our
city.

Mrs Ella Adams of Spartanburg, S. C.,
is spending the holidavs with Mrs E W
Butler.
Mias Belle Butler spent Christmas with
her parents in Winston. The teachers
are all back’at work.
Miss Annie Alston visited her sick
mother and friends at home during the
holidays.
Rev R 0 Collins has moved his family
to his new home in the eastern suburbs
of the city.
Mr E H Buss, of Atlanta postoffice de
partment, paid our city a visit recently.

Mrs Laura Powell, of Laurinburg, is
apindingthe holidays with her parints
and friends here.
The military festival was a crowded
success Tuesday night, and repeated on
Wednesday night.

will see how long we can go without get
