The Demorest Contest Club of LP tie Coharie township gave a pleasant and much enjoyable enter- tainment, consisting of music and temperance recitations, in the Methodist church in Clinton last Friday night. The representatives were, Misses Bettie Underwood, Sophronina Warren, Mary Bullard, Ellen Culbreth, Katie Williams, Bettie Fisher, Lillie Cooper, Geor gia Cooper, Willie Culbreth. and Oc- tavia Fisher. Mr. J. D. O. Cul breth has charge of the club. . Mr. John Underwood and Mar shall Bullard, who were present as sisted in the two pretty songs, "Waive the Banner" and "Vote as ouPray." For some reason the medal was not awarded, but in a lormer contest it was awarded we think to Miss Lillie Cooper. The parlor is decoratod to compare with the church and even more taste- ully done. Tl e evtning is most pleasantly spent by all in honor of tho happy event. The bride is a most estimable young lady and one of Clinton's favorites. The bride groom is a fine young man, liked by every one and one of the town's model men.
