Those w ho delivered speeches said that agricul ture not only had the largest bur den of taxation to bear but that the English faimer had to compete with the "pauper labor" of America. This sounds strange. It will take the wealth producers of England about as long as it will take the wealth producers of America to learn that the gold trust of England and Amer ica is the cause for hard times in both countries. That English meet ing of farmers must have been run by politicians, who always succeed in putting the people on the wrong track when chey are working for the causes of hard times. Gov. What is the matter with the management of the penitentiary of North Carolina? During campaigns the people are told by the Democratic politicians that the penitentiary is self-sustaining.
