College for all who come. HTATK XKWH. Lowery Shot Murphy, N. C, Bept. 12. John McKinney, alias Jim Lowry, who killed pollwinan Jones, at Shelby, N. C, on August 4th, while resisting arrept, near here this morning, was shot and killed In Helf-defenne by ex-town marshal V. J. Watson, formerly of Orange county, N. C, one of tho jwxfe. The negro had a Winchester drawn on Watson, who tired too quick for the negro. There is a reward of $o)0 offered. Mr. J. D. ISrevaid, of Hhelby, who is here, fully identi fied the negro as tho one wno killed tho policeman. The Hhelby officers have been notified. Watson will submit. News and Observer. Informer Mobbed. An outrage was perpetrated at the home of Tom Marshall, who lives on the dividing line between Wilkes and Yadkin, one night last week. A mob of between twenty-five and fifty men went to the housw, shot through the windows and doois, cut up a buggy and did other depreda tions. The motive was a report that Marshall had informed on some bloukaders.
