Many Good Attractions Have Been Se cured for the Midway The Confed erate Veterans Will be in Encamp ment Here During the Fair. Secretary Pogue, of the State Fair Association, Is sparing neither trouble nor expense to give the people of North Carolina an exhibition worthy of the great State Fair. He has closed a contract with the Gasklll-Mundy-Levitt Combination of Shows, which secures that famous aggregation at the Fair Grounds during Fair week. There will be lots of free shows. In cluding Le Rose, who does the Revolv ing Spiral on a ball; High Wire by Grant, who grazed the edge of the tank one day In a strong wind; You turkey on the slack wire, who fell and broke two ribs in Bait I more; Holden, who does a high dive somersaulting backward, and Le Rose and his sister, who do a juggling act. Among the paid shows will be the Streets of Cairo, with camels, donkeys, an elephant, and dromedaries. At the great reunion to be held here during the State Fair thousands of veterans from all over the State will bo present. The encampment on Cameron field begins Tuesday, October 20th, and closes Thursday, October 22d. On Wednesday morning the veterans will form in line for the great parade. Gen eral John D. Gordon, commander of the United Confederate Veterans, and General Julian S. Carr, State com mander, will lead. They will be as sisted by Generals Matt W. Ransom, w. U. Cox and w. P. Koberts and a brilliant stafT. General Gordon will make a short address at the grounds, and the Generals wlft hold a drill and review of the veterans. Major General Julian S. Carr has called a reunion of Confederate veter ans, to be held in Raleigh during the State Fair, beginning Tuesday, Octo ber 20th, and ending Thursday, Octo ber 22d. The veterans will go into ramp while here. Light refreshments, ice water, lemonade, coffee, etc., will be provided. Tents, straw, etc., will be furnished. The State Fair is heart ily co-operating with the officers of the Veterans' Association, and it Is hoped that this reunion will be a truly great gathering of North Carolina's soldiers. On Wednesday the veterans will form line and march to the Fair Grounds, where they will be admitted free. General John B. Gordon will deliver his famous address, "The Last Days of the Confederacy."
