The disease is always most virulent in hot, moist weather. Ciuso of the disease. Black rot of tho cabbacro and other plants of the sam family, is caused by a germ or microbe, Bacillus campes tris. Thl germ lives from year to the soil, attacking with increasing virulence eucccsaive crops of the cabbage kind, until at length it be comes practically imposs3lble to grow these crops except upon fresh or vinrln soil.
