We said the man who ordered a paper on credit and then left it dead in the postoffice was the meanest man, but John 'Black goes us one better. He says the man who cleans off the lot in the cemetery and throws the trash on another man's lot is the meanest, man and should not be buried there. We yield th.e palm to Bro. Black. Raeford Facts and Figures. Women as Well as7 Hen Are Made bjfjKidaej and "mm Kidney trouble jk'eysstfpon the mind, discourages and lessens ambition; beauty, vigor ' and cheerful ness' soon disappear when the kidneys are out of order or diseased. Kidney trouble has become so prevalent that it is not uncom mon for a child to be born afflicted with weak kidneys. If the child urinates too often, if the urine scalds the flesh, or if, when the child reaches an age when it should be able to control the passage, it is yet afflicted with bed-wetting, depend upon it, the cause of the diffi culty is kidney trouble, and the first step should be towards the treatment of these important organs. This unpleasant trouble is due to a diseased condition of the kidneys and bladder and not" to a habit as most people suppose. Women as well as men are made miser able with kidney and bladder trouble, and both need the same great remedy. The mild and the immediate effect of Swamp-Root is soon realized. Irene stopped over in Charlotte yesterday with an uncle and aunt, on their way to Columbia, a. C. Mrs. Young also happened to be at the station. Upon sight of the lit lie girl the mother rushed to her, caressed her and begged for a kiss. The daughter screamed into the ma ternal ears that she no longer had the natural love of child for mother. The aunt came to the assistance of her niece and the mother walked away the object of pity from a crowd of bystanders who had wit nessed the unusual incident. Mrs. Young is still making her home in Charlotte and is well known here. She is rather a good looking woman. NEGRO FILLED WITH BUCKSHOT. While He Played An Accordeon An Un known Miscreant Shot Him Dead. Special to Charlotte Obserer. Scotland Keck, Aug. 17. Wed nesday night there was a foul mur der at the home of Mr. Manza White, about six miles from Scot land Neck. . A colored man named Ellis Merritt was shot and instantly killed while, minding a tobacco barn. He was left alone about 12 o'clock, and soon after he was left a shot was heard but little attention was paid to it. The next morning the man was found dead and stiff. He was play ing an accordeon when shot, and when turned over ' his -fingers still clasped the keys of the instrument. By reason of some circumstances there was a little suspicion agBinst a colored boy named Hardy. He was arrested and a hearing was had, but in the absence of evidence he was released. Ia was rumored that some one y&sterday received a letter from the dead man s aunt near Enfield, tell ing him to come at once and let no one know of his coming. He came to this community from Enfield about six months ago. Further than the letter there is no clue to the perpetrator of the deed, for the mur dered man is said to have been on good terms with everybody in the community who knew him. Every Man Should Take a Newspaper. One of the wonders of the age Is, that some men will deny their ft mi lies of the pleasure and profit of a newspaper when good papers of all kinds are within the reach of all.
