' - The enrollment to date has beaten all previous records and it Ls believed that Charlotte will step - Into first place in the South in the enrollment of students for this year. Last year the local ; Y. M. C. A. was fourth. It was third, however, in the number of international certificates secured. The rest of the year will be given ; to in crease the efficiency of the work and It Is believed tfeat' first' place is within reach of the local Y. M.' C. A. and the educational committee. TURNSTILES INSTALLED AT THE NEW FAIRGROUNDS i" Pour Brlght's coin control turnstiles ar being installed at the new grounds of the Charlotte Fair Association which constitutes a very , excellent feature of the equipment of the new grounds These ' turnstiles require each person to drop the exact change, into the receptacle ' prepared for it and the machine will not turn until this is done, .one person only being admitted at a time. An accurate reg istration." of each- person entering Is made at. the same time; and the slow process of selling tickets ' W thus done away wlthJ ' ' There being four of these turnstiles Just four times as many people can pass through the gates at one time as was possible by the old method. It will be necessary for each one de siring admission to the - grounds '.-to have the exact change ready to drop into the turnstile. :.. " In place of the usual ticket sellers will be provided the meaiu for mak ing " change to" all who desire It. The new plan will permit , of a handling large crowds of people in a minimum space v of j time, ; and will prevent .the annoying-vwalt at-"thet' gate which is so objectionable to every one, . The inventor of the new machines will be on hand during the fair week to assist in gettinar them in proper operation. - This method , of passing people through the gates .will, proo ably meet -with the approval of all just as soon as their operation is un derstood and people become accus tomed to them. Wherever , they have been used they have been successful and meet with the approval of the general public. The favorable report of Mr, Charles B.; Creswell on his return this morn- ins- from Raleigh where he has been attending ,the State. Fair gives further assurance 'that the Charlotte fair mis 1 - s conn?oas lines) pass through points only for sero, freexin. W, andW.:, year will be all and more than Is ex pected ' of it. . In some respects the show will . go ahead, of the . fairs of other years. . - "The Traveling Salesman.'' C J What-should prove of unusual in-" terest to the local play-going public is' the approaching appearance of James Forbes .latest comedy. "The Travel ing Salesman,", which "will . be seen at the Academy of Muslo Saturday, matinee and night. "The Traveling Salesman" is a humorous exposition of the life -of the modern drummer. Robert E.
