EVENING DRESS SALE PURCELL'S EVENING DRESS SALE COUNTY PROGRESS lit EXERCISES POSTPONED The exercises of "County Progress Day," ending the three days of Com munity Service Week in North Caro lina, were not held here today on ac count of the inclement weather. The program was postponed until next .Sat urday, at which time it will be carried out as planned, in the Piedmont thea tre. It is probable that the exercises of similar nature that were to have been held in all of the county seats of the state today wtre likewise postpon ed as the unfavorable weather ex tends over the state. Everything was ready for the meet ing of the county " forces here this morning and everything favorable ex cept the weather. The speakers and all who were to take part on the pro gram were present, but it was deemed best to postpone the exercises, inas much as the attendance of those for whom it was specially prepared would likely be impossible. .The meeting was, however, called to order by Chairman R. W. Graeber. Miss Mary Graham, secretary of the meeting announced that in spite of -the unfavorable wea ther that had prevailed most of the schools in the county had carried out the programs they had arranged for Thursday and Friday relative to Com munity Service Week and that they had done a great deal of useful work, Special Services At Tabernacle Postponed On Account of Weather V i On account of the inclement weather the formal opening exercises at the Tabernacle on East Avenue that were planned for tomorrow night in cele bration of the completion of the church will be postponed until Sunday night, December 13th. Rev. Dr. W. W. .Orr, pastor of the church, made announce ment to this effect this morning. It was planned to have a service, in which all the ministers of the Asso ciate Reformed Presbyterian denomi nation in the city would take part and also some of the ministers of the same denomination in the county and this feature of the exercises will be car ried out next Sunday night. The new church, erected at a cost of about $30,000 is one" of the most substantial . and elegant in the city and is handsomely fitted up in the interior. Its main auditorium has a seating capacity of 900, while annexes, Sunday school rooms, parlors and oth er such rooma .furnish abundant facili ties for exercises of any kind that the congregation or any of its departments may have from time to time. Dr. Orr, the pastor of the church, is entering upon his second .pastorate there, his first having been interrupted by his res ignation to devote several years to evangelistic work. The congregation is one of the most progressive and grow ing in the city. Mayor C. A. Bland to Address Gaffney, S. C. Elks' Sorrow Lodge 9 DAYS OF BID WEATHER-RR1N FILL 2:12 T i Forest Grove A. R. P. A traveling man is out in all kinds of weather, so it is to be supposed that the regudar monthly meeting of Post C, T.
