Charlotte Lodge No. 392 has arrang ed an especially attractive program for the afternoon, beginning at 3:30 and the officers and members are look ing forward v with a great deal of in terest and pleasure, to the occasion. Tne program includes the reading of the names of the Elks who have died during the past year, music by the Temple Quar tette, the introduction of the speaker by Mr. Chase Brenizer, city attorney, and the invocation and benediction by Rev. W. E. Furr, pastor of St: Paul's Presbyterian church. The officers desire to make it very plain that the general public is invited to attend these exercises, and espe cially are the ladies invited to at tend. The exercises will not be long and they will be interesting not only to Elks but to the general public as well. , "The Old Homestead." Set in an" atmosphere of peace and tranquilfty, with a story of human kindness permeating, enriched by quaint characterizations and beset on all sides with homely sentiment, "The Old Homestead" now .in its twenty ninth year of unstinted success comes to the Academy of Music Monday, matinee and night, - December 7th. Far removed from the war clouds, nevertheless our spirit of brotherly love extends - beyond the seas a:id one finds in "The Old Homestead " just the kind of peaceful comfort so devoutly to- be wished for. There have been mighty few plays wherein the essence of good will is so elo quently preached as in this dear old dramatic evergreen. It is icr that reason we hail its yearly advent with so much friendly regard. , Who during the past decade and a half has not "sat under' the softening spell of Denman Thompson's splen did play of New England life and have come away impressed by its simplicity and beauty? One feels all the better for having become ac quainted with Uncle - Joshua ' Whit comb, Aunt Matilda and the rest ot the - quaint . lovable characters who interpret the story fraught , with heart interest and replete with keen, Yankee, wit. ' ; It would hardly seem fair to de prive us of an opportunity to pay yearly homage , to a . play like "The Old Homestead" which , has become such an institution and gives every indication of going on indefinitely The famous double quartette "The Old Homestead" church choir, and a'l the orieimal features still torm a conspicuous part of. this play's draw ing powers, and the cast is" practi cally the same as when seen, a eration ago. , Seats are now selling at Hawiev's Pharmacy for both performances. Primrose and Wilson's Minstrels "I've Found Someone to Chase the Blues Away," is sung by "Happy Jack" Lambert in the first part' or Primrose and Wilson's i minstrels which will give afternoon and night performances at the Academy of Music next Tuesday, December 8. The diminutive comedian doss pot say who that "someone" is, but the many enchores that he receives at each performance, , is evidence That the audience is in a cheerful mood. Mr. .Lambert, aside trom being an exceptionally talented, unctuous com edian, possesses a voice of rare liex ibjlity, wonderful range and exqui site timbre. He will render a num ber of new ballads during the course of the entertainment. "I Ha4 a Pal. I Had a Pal," is another number that Mr. Lambert is singing effective ly. Seats, are now "on sale at Haw ley's Pharmacy. v ; FEEL YDUWG n r-n-ru i V tl f j i lCRTILAX (Tne.CertllieCl LaX- otivol - 1' ClllVC . I UCWiUB JL UIO 11CIU1L Ui.
