SCHOOLS WILL ALL CLOSE TOIUIORiW The schools of Mecklenburg coun ty will all close tomorrow and re main closed through the holidays, most of them having a holiday of two weeks duration. The matter of tak ing up school again earlier than Jan uary 4th will -be a matter for the com mittee of the various schools to de cide. Superintendent CcCluskey has recommended that all. schools have a holiday of two weeks, but leaving it to the committee to decide whether there is any reason why a particular school should make itself the ex ception. The colored schools, none of them will re-open until January 4th, for the reason that some of them will participate in the celebration of Emancipation Day, which the colored people are preparing to observe here January 1st. Manv of the schools of the county are preparing special exercises inci dent to Christmas, some of them to have exercises tomorrow and tomor-, row night, while other will have them, at some date during the holiday sus-1 pension of schools. It is probable that most of them will have their exercises in the midst of the holiday suspen sion and that they will partake large ly of a neighborhood affair rather exclusively a school affair, but with the school pupils playing a large role in the exercises. It is the opinion of the superin tendent of schools that the interrup tions of school work by the festivities incident to Christmas would deter the schools from securing the best results if they opened on December 28 for resumption of study and that if allowed the full two weeks as a holiday the pupils and teachers will reassemble on the 4th of January with" renewed energy for work. Many of the teachers, too, will thus be given an opportunity to visit their homes at distant points. In the case of the long-term schools, some of which have been in operation for three or four months, the school work will be resumed' very probably i not before January 4th, while some of the shorter term schools may elect to begin work again on Decem ber's. : The Weather. The mercury was at 20 degrees last night, and will range in that neigh- ! borhood again tonight, says the Weather Man. There is prospect of a rise of temperature in-a day or so. Thawing time is coming. ENDORSED AT HOME Such Proof as This Should Convince Any Charlotte Citizen. The public endorsement of a local . . 1 citizen is the best proof? that can be' produced. None better, none stronger; i can be Lad. When a man. comes for ward and testifies to his fellow-citizens, addresses his friends and neigh bors,' you may be sure he is thorough ly convinced or he would not do so. Telling one's experience when it is for the public good is an act of kind ness that should be appreciated. The following statement given by a resi dent of Charlotte adds one more to the many cases of Home Endorsement which are being published about Doan's Kidney Pills- Read it. John E. Stowe, 400 S. Clarkson St., Charlotte, N. C, says: "I feel it my duty to let you know what Doan's Kid- ney Pills did for me. I had kidney trouble for three or four years. I tried 'doctors' medicines, but they fail-' ed to cure me, so I tried Doan's Kidney Pills. They have done me a world of good, but I haven't used them long enough to bring a cure."
