Harrison Talks of Boys' Corn Club Work Special to The News. Washington, June 19. Commenting on the record of Boys' Corn Clubs throughout th United States for the season of 1914 just published by the United States department of agricul ture. President Harrison of Southern Railway ComDany said: "As in each former year since the inauguration of the Boys Corn Clubs the championship has gone to the south, having been won by Carl Graves, p.t Soao, Mississippi, with the production of 202 bushels of corn on a single acre at the remarkable low cost of 11.5 cents per bushel. The highest record made by any boy outside of the south was by a Pennsylvania boy who made 148 bushels at a cost of 26.7 per bushel. This record was exceeded by ten of the first and second prize winning boys in the south. The aver age yield per acre made by the win ners of the first and second prizes in the states of Virginia. North Carolina. South Carolina, Georgia, Albama, Ken tucky and Tennessee was 159.26 bush els, as compared with an average of 104.22 by the prize winners in the Northern, Central and Western States. Taken into consideration with the rec ords of previous years, these figures show that, with the adoption of prop er cultural methods, the south can be made the greatest corn-producing sec tion of the United States." Yes, Mollie, some sober minded folk criticise your Uncle Ed for what they term friviolous speech, for illustrating, great truths by homeiy meta ods, and for telling in language more expressive than euphonious and more understandable than elegant, how silly many people are in the handling of their finances. But, bless your heart, Mollie, I can't be happy and be dig nified and sober and sad looking much of my time. And I can't make others happy by being long face:l. "and I'se not agwine to do it, nuttier." God didn't make me on that pian, .neither does He require it. WHY, MOLLIE, I TELL THE TRUTH about my business, and tother fellow!stoo, sometimes, and if mine grows fat and others lean by turning on the big search light, I can't help it. Why, girl of mine, this business makes me as happy as a blushing bride, and its not because I'm overfed or overpaid, but -its because it sheds sunshine and smiles everywhere, and that' j w orth living for. My, My, Mollie, - I just can't live without laughter, and fun and innocent hilarity. YES, MOLLIE, THE MUTUAL B. & L. is almost in a class to itself. It doesn't flirt with or disappoint honest effort to make good.
