THE CHARLOTTE NEWS FEBRUARY l1( FRIDAY nr ssjsc UPS IfcTlnker Stone' tyCarlysleli Holcomb, TINKER BOB'S FAREWELL. "All right," said Tinker Bob to Lady Duck, "everything is now ready and all we have to do now is bid farewell to the Bats and the Alligators, then we will go on our way to the land where we can see some of our old friends of the forest. We must hurry." "Quack, quack," said Lady Duck, "the Gators are all coming this way How to Banish Piles Thousands Bless Dr. Leonhardt, the Physician Who Discovered a Com mon Sense Remedy. "What in the world are all of the Gators coming here fer?" asked Tinker Bob as he gathered up the things that were so necessary to the trip he and Lady Duck were going to make. No one could have answered the ques tion but the Gators themselves. But th9 truth was that they were coming toward him, all of them, led by the fellow whose teeth had dropped out of his mouth when Tinker had tapped the Stone of Knowledge. When they came close enough Tinker Bob spoke to the leader and said: "Pray tell me what does all of this mean?" He waited some time for an answer, but that was not strange for they were slow creatures. "Oh. this is a tribe of friends who come to bid you farewell," said the big fellow leading them. Then they be gan to sing. We sing to the King of the forqst Tlte boldest, bravest King, Of the children who live in the forest Of his glorious deeds we ing. Tinker Bob was much pleased to hear the great creatures of the Lake sing a eong in his honor. For this song he dropped into the mouth of each alliga tor a lump of sugar made from the sap of the great Northern maple tree. They were so happy with this sugar that they wanted the King to take them along with him where they could have sugar Our Retail Shop is a Model of Cleanliness and Convenience, Where the Best Products of the Baker's Skill Are Displayed and Sold by Young Saleswomen, Whose Courtesy, considera tion and Promptness Assures Delightful Selections Bakery Products OF SUPREME GOODNESS Our bread and pastry proves the sincerity of our claims to quality. You would not be hap py' "We will go anywhere with you, O, King," they cried together. This only goes to show that wherey Tinker Bob goes the great and 6mall creatures of the Forest learn to love him. Even the great Alligator wanted to go with him to the Land of the Great Forest. "I cannot take you along with me, but sometime I will come again to see you and bring you. some more sugar." Then something happened. "Tinker had been told by Old Man Experience that every creature had a heart and could feel hurt and could cry and laugh. Well, the Alligators began to cry, and their tears were so large that where they fell on the pebbH' beach they made little waterfalls that trickled in tiny rills back into the lake.
