At 'the meetlng.it was decided in the future to assemble monthly. Dr. W. M. Wal lace acted as chairman of the reorgani zation meeting. For the initial time m Jl in its history the Chester Doara w health is honored by having as one of its members one of Chester's most prominent women. Mrs. H. E. McCon nell wife of the late. Dr. McConnell who performed such wonderfully con structive work when he was chairman of the board of . health. Charlotte grocers are to organize and affiliate with the Charlotte Merchants Association, if steps taken Friday night at a meeting of grocers at the court house are carried out. W. Miller, W. M. Sigman, W. N. Mullen and J. A. Vogler. Mr. THndlav. from, his lonsr experience as a merchant and close study of mer cantile problems, gave the grocers many suggestions about the technical details of business and, methods likely to aid in carrying on a successrui gro cery business. Profits should always be figured on the sale price and noi on the cost of goods, he said. It must v,o t.nt in -mind, hte said, that no money is made until money replaces the goods carried in stock. Mr. Keelor talked briefly, emphasiz imr th value of eo-oneration. even among competitors, stating, as one ex ample.- that by credit miormation ex change, the man or family that stays at one place as long as he can and moves to another without paying his bills, and keeps on shifting and evad ing, can be eliminated, resulting in great saving. MANUFACTURERS ARE ORGANIZING E. A. Cole President of Tem porary Organization of State's Industrial Cap: tains. Plans started in Worth Carolina sev eral months ago looking toward the organization of the North Carolina Manufacturers Association have result ed in the formation of a temporary or ganization, with headquarters) located in Charlotte. E. A. Cole, of the Cole Manufacturing Company here, has been president. J. F. Trazzare, of Atlan ta, has come here to take up the duties of secretary and J. H. Separk, of Gas tonia, has been made treasurer. Permanent organization is expected to be mad" here this fall during' the period of the Made-in-Carolinas exposi tion, which will take place September 12 to 28 in two tig buildings erected for the purpose. Mr. Trazzare is one of the promoters of the project and has spent several months in the state working up in terest in it. He has visited manufac turers in many parts of the state and says the response to the organization idea was immediate. The idea behind the movement is to ll ring all tie manufacturers of the state, of whatever kind, into one body to collaborate for their mutual projec tion and tor furthering the manufac turing and industrial welfore of the state. A weekly bulletin, gotten out by the secretary, will be one of the features of the organization, which will keep the members of the association informed on many topics of interest to them. Chap man, Jr., who last week was graduated from Roanoke College, was struck and instantly killed .. by lightning at his home near Salem Friday - afternoon, when he sought refuge in a barn from a sudden thunderstorm.
