G u A N Fa If a -wit t Istt 5S '-"-"""-y-r- r' "in s-v.-.'!- ij Announcement We have just completed installing an electric Bur glar Alarm System, which we will be glad to show and explain to our customers and friends. On Wednesday, December 7th, we will have an expert from the factory with us all day who will explain the system and we in vite the public to look it over, especially from three to six p. m. In 1920 we had built a modern steel lined vault of the very latest and most up to date construction, with the idea that we might feel safe and secure in renting de posit boxes to our customers. We were able to get Bur glary insurance on our own cash and securities but were unable to insure contents of customers' deposit boxes, being unable to specify contents. Knowing that they contain a larger proportion of negotiable securities payable to bearer now than ever before, and realizing that recent modern invention enables experts with torch, using combinations of gases, to burn through concrete, cast iron, or steel with an alarming degree of speed, we began an investigation of electric alarm sys tems, and selected the McClintock System. The vault, top, sides, bottom and door are com pletely covered with a net work of wires one and one half inches apart. Any thread of one of these wires being cut or subjected to excessive heat will release the circuit and sound the alarm. A turn of. the combination lock, cutting of any wire to the gong or any tampering with the box containing the gong will set it off. For any day light attempt at robbery there are height sta tions within the counters which only require to be step ped on to set off the alarm. The metal case enclosing the gong is on the front of the building and the alarm when turned in can be heard from the City Hall to the court house, and the Police department will know where to come when they hear the alarm. We feel confident we are giving to our customers every protection to their securities that can be offered, being the kind of protection used by the Government and the Federal Reserve Banks of the country. We are now content to urge the use of these boxes which rent from $1.50 per annum and up. ii ! CHARLOTTE, N. C. Good prices for cotton and Seasonal Fall business combined with more optimistic attitude will put more money in circulation. Nevertheless we advise Sticking fairly close to a cash basis.
