' Much social and patriotic interest is centered in the second annual ball to be given by the American War Moth ers of Charlotte Wednesday evening in the City Auditorium. This ball promises to eclipse by far the brilliant ball given last January by the War Mothers. A feature of the ball will be the music, which will be furnished by the Southern Melody Sextette. Acting as chaperones will be Mrs. Hugh Montgomery, president of tho American War Mothers; Mrs. John R. Van Ness, Mrs. John Bass Brown, Mrs. William E. Thomas, Mrs. Frank I'urcell. Mrs. John F. Yorke and Mrs. James D. Ball A number of delightful parties will be entertained at the ball. Among these will be a party of 30 guests, to be entertained by Miss - Graeo Rogers Montgomery, attractive" young daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Montgomery. Agnes hi uiris Home Tuesday. Randolph Scott, who is out of the city on business, will return home on Thurs day. Mrs. John L. Adams, at her home on North College street. Walter Hook, only son of -Mr. and Mrs. Charles C. Hook, arrived home Saturday night from New York, where he attends Columbia University. George Rhodes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Taul Rhodes, arrived home Friday night from Raleigh, where he attends the North Carolina State College, this being his first year there. He was with his company the Irish Players, and had just concluded five-weeks engagement at the Olympic ' theater here.
