It is tha purpose of the Iowa Dem oerata to present tha name of Gov, Bolee to the next Democratic Na tional Convention as a candidate for Preeldectv At tha meeting of the Democratic State Central Commit tea tha matter was discussed at some length. The committee bad met to , eloaa np tha affairs of the last cani- - palffn. When this business was dis poaedof Chairman Fullen brought np tba question of Gov. Boles's can didacy and nrged the necessity of Immediate action. He said there is much probability of the nomination coming West, and there Is no more promialngcandldatetobefound than. tba Governor of Iowa, who had led the Democratic party to victory In three successive campaigns. His record Is known throughout the land, and he has earnest friends and sup porters In every State In the Union, and organized effort should be made : to get them together and at work In the right direction. Mr. Fullen's re marks met with the approval of every member of the committee, and It was decided to call an early State Convention to select delegates to the next National Convention when the time and place of holding the No veUtion shall have been made known. IowaN Democrats are In earnest in the movement to present the name of Gov. Finally It was decidedly to refer the whole matter, with all the suggestion made by the various pres byterles, and by the committee yes terday, to a committee of Ave, which Is to report a flual proposition itself will have to bs again considered, and the fate of thla clause may not be set tied for some considerable time. The committee is made up of Dr. Morris, Dr. Patton, Dr. Hemes Johnson. Mr. William Ernst, and Judge Alfred Hand. The proposition that was most con sidered yesterday was to omit tne mmrst.Uimt f olsnf try unrlaallllD Ufa " and the word "them," which would make the clause read: "The rest of mankind God was pleased to ordain to dishonor and wrath for their sin." Another for Hrlce and Thoniaa. Baltimore, Jan. 14. An ordl nance providing for the purchase of the city's interest In the Western Maryland Railroad has been prepar ed by Gen. Bryaut of New York, and It will be presented to the Council next Monday. The principal back ers of the enterprise are united States Hen a tor Calvin 8. Brice and Geu. Thomas, both of whom are largely Interested in the East Ten nessee, Virginia and Georgia, Rich mood and Danville, and Norfolk and Western systems, all of which are anxious to reach Baltimore, J'hila delDhia. and New York at less ex pense than is now possible for them This could be accomplished if the roads named had a choice of two routes instead of one, as is now the case. The Shenandoah Valley division of the Norfolk and Western, which extends from Koanoke, a., to Ha irerstown, Md., furnishes the East Tennessee, Virginia and Georgia system with an outlet as far as the latter town. To reach New York and other Doints it is necessary to send passengers and freight by a lone: detour and over routes which are not entirely friendly to the man agements of the former. The purchase of the Western Mary land Railroad would solve the diffi culty. The Richmond and Danville would also, it is claimed, send much ofits northbound traffic by the new route, if the deal is consummated. LEMON ELIXIR.
