WASHINGTON OFFICE: Trade Press Building, 1209 G St. N.W. Edward A. Oldham, Manager. ROOSEVELT AS A MIND-READER. President Roosevelt s powers of per ception are remarkable. As a president, soldier, rough rider, ranch, and lawyer, he has missed his calling altogether: he should have been a seer, a mind reader and prophet. His performance of second sight or mind-reading Satur day at Plainfield, N. J., was little short of marvelous and on that act alone he could ensure sufficient adver tising to pack to standing room every house on three theatrical circuits. As the train sped away from the crowds at Plainfield, the press dispatches tell us, in the midst of the President's re marks, he shouted "The engineer has spared you," probably just what nine tenths of the minds in that crowd were thinking at that moment. The Presi dent is indeed endowed with wonder ful power. MONDAY, AUG. 25, 1902 ARCHBEL In Buying ry A GOLD-BRICK SCHEME.
