Italy is a land of music and its greatest band is Sorrentino's Banda Rossa. or Red Band, which is to play at the Academy of Music next Tues day night. This is the fifth year of the Banda Rossa in America. It comes annually about the first week in June and returns to Italy in October. It has forty-five members, most of .whom have been with Sorrentino twelve and fourteen years. Some of them were classmates of his in the conservatory at Naples. The band has a most re markable scrap book and were the clippings not there, one might weil re fuse to believe that, it has received the astonishing amount of critical press commendation claimed for it. When the band played in Boston, Philip Halo of the Journal, one of the most, extreme critics in America today, said lie knew of no other band the equal of the Banda- Rossa. Ben Wooif and W. F. Anthrop wrote in similar vein over their own signatures. In New York City, the Tribune. the. Times, the Sun. in fact all the lead ing papers, joined Boston in saying pleasant tilings about the band. In Philadelphia. Providence. Albany. Rochester. Buffalo. Detroit. Minne apolis, where the band plays six to eignt weeks every year; in Kansas City, where the band has played seven weeks in the last two years; in St. Louis, where peace was asked for the ashes of the late Patrick Gilmoio, the band was sensationally success ful. Audiences find something new in the playing of these men. Their cli maxes rise almost beyond belief and they phrase with the art of prima donna 3. QUALITY This ware is strictly a high grade of Porcelain, with snowy whiteness, and a lustrpus finish. It is as near translucent as is possible to attain American ware. Part of the clay used in manufacture is imported and part domestic. It is made at Sebnng, Ohio, by.tte largest and best known factories in the United States. Especial attention is called to the beautiful white color, which all other manufacturers have been unable to produce. In fact, it is the next thing to Haviland China, there being no comparison between this and many other cheap grades of ware made in this country. DECORATION This decoration is new and original in design, having been selected from hundreds. of sketches made especially for this purpose by the best artists in this country. This dec tion is put on by a process called transfer work, which leaves the impression of the rlowetOti the ware, and it is then colored by experienced artists. While it is not strictly hand painty, the coloring is done by hand. After putting on the coloring matter it is placed m the lfln and burned into the ware. If used for many years the coloring will always remain as bright and fresh as new. The gold tracings give a richness of effect, which adds materially to the beauty of the ware and is an expensive process. , GUARANTEED NOT TO CRAZE Every lady who is acquainted with chinaware always asks the question before select ing will it craze? We absolutely guarantee it against crazing. It is a secret process I mixing the different kinds of clay that enables their factories to turn out ware that 1 riot CTclZG . w - SHAPES AND DESIGNS r Jianr am the verv latest and have been designed by European artists to meet the tastes of the most fastidious. By a close comparison with the finest and most expen sive imported chinaware, you will notice a similarity of shapes. . CONCLUSION While we do not claim that this ware is equal to the fine imported china, we..do claim that it is the best manufactured in this country.
