Wilmington, March ; 23 The first soi vioe olr the greater men's meetings to be held in this city Was inaugurated Tuesday night at the First Baptist ciiiuch. The Baptist church, was used on account of the fact that the Acade niy of Music had a theatrical engage ment. However, on the remaining . tLi-L'C nights and afternoon of this 'oe'.; Wednesday, Thursday and Fri day the meetings will be held in the Academy. The meeting last night, be ins the first, was opened to a mixed congregation and a large crowd of iiien and women were present. The meetings for the rest of the week, how ever, will be open to women in the1 cfternocn and for men only at night. Dr. John E. White, of Atlanta, Ga., the eminent Baptist divine who is lead ing the meetings, was on hand, having arrived in the city late last evening and after a preliminary song service took as his text "Prove All Things, Hold Fast to That Which is Good." Dr. White preached very forcibly from this tixt and illustrated that "sin was the s?me yesterday, today and forever; sorrow was the same yesterday, today and lor ever; death was the same yes terday, today and forever." Therefore Christians should be consistent and ret ho shifted around by every idle tloctiine. The music ior the meetings is, in charge of Prof. H. Wormersley assisted hy Mr. A. S. Holden and at the meet ins last night the song service was one of the features. The Hollow hiiKh Orchestra will furnish the in strumental music for the meetings at the Academy. C, delivered a superb lec ture Monday night at the Armory of the, Boys': Brigade to a large and appre ciative audience. ; ' The executive committee and board of directors of the East Carolina Truck and Fruit Growers' Associa tion was in sesion in the city yester day morning, Mr. William E. Springer, the president, presiding. Questions as to transportation of the strawberry and vegetable crops were brought up at the meeting and other business important to truckers was attended to. Ray Van Orman, the captain of the Cornell 4 football team, was removed from the University last Saturday,. by the Com mittee on Student Conduct for "crib bing" in an examination on veterinary surgery.
