HUTCHISON TELLS OF HIS CITY LOT FARMS When a Witness In Recorder's Court He Says: "I Have Got Fifty Bushels of Cotton Seed and Want Ten More to Plant City Lots. "I have got fifty bushels of cotton seed and I want to buy ten more to plant city lots," said Mr. D. Parks Hutchison this morning in the police court, when on cross examination as to the boundaries of the city in the case against the Southern Railway Company for blocking the Sixteenth street crossing. Mr. D. D. Traywick, agent of the Southern here, was in court with his attorney, Mr. D. Kirby Pope, to an swer the charge. The witnesses for the state were Messrs. Parks Hutchison and J. Leak Sepncer and Mr. YY'hite, a rural carrier. These witnesses testified as to seeing two cars blocking this crossing on lasti FFriday, and stated that they remain ed there for more than five minutes, Witness YY'hite saying that the time was exactly 25 minutes. Yardmaster Orr and Chief of the Weighting Bureau Gray were put on by the defendants to prove that there was a car off the track at the time, and that it was impossible for the crossing to be cleared sooner than was done. Mr. Hutchison was examined by :vir. Pope as to whether he knew that this crossing was within the city limits. Mr. Hutchison answered that he knew because he paid city taxes on land be yond this point. After Mr. Pope had addressed the court, Mr. Hutchison stated there were witnesses who could testify that the crossings had been frequently blocked, and that it could be proved that the crossing had been blocked the day before. Mr. Pope objected to Mr. Hutchisonf practicing before the court and at the same time bringing in evidence which had not been produced in the trial. The case was dismissed, the court holding that the defendant had made a reasonable excuse, but gave a warn ing that any flagrant violation in the future would be punished with the pen alty of the law, whicu is a fine of $50.
